A new collaboration between SM Entertainment and HYBE is coming to light.
On April 17, SM Entertainment stated, “By the second half of this year, we will open official communities for each of our artists on Weverse and manage official fan club services through membership services to interact with fans in various ways.”
Currently, SM uses the private messenger service DearU bubble to allow artists to communicate with fans directly. Through Weverse, in addition to this messaging service, SM intends to provide fans with individual artist communities, various media content, and commerce services.
In regards to this, SM stated, “Through the coexistence of our private messenger bubble and the fandom platform Weverse, we are materializing the fan-centered ‘SM 3.0.'”
SM will also be joining Weverse Shop, a commerce platform where agencies can sell their artists’ albums and merchandise. In the future, albums and merchandise from SM artists will be available to purchase on Weverse Shop as well as the existing SMTOWN &STORE and other official online stores.
After withdrawing from the acquisition of SM, HYBE agreed to collaborate with SM in the platform sector. At that time, HYBE stated, “The two companies have reached a grand agreement,” but did not disclose the exact details of their platform collaboration.
