Watch: “Fantasy Boys” Contestants Kick Off Visual Mission With Covers Of THE BOYZ And Stray Kids

“Fantasy Boys” has begun the first mission of their second semester!

MBC’s new audition program “Fantasy Boys” is the male version of “My Teen Girl,” the audition program that gave rise to the rookie girl group CLASS:y last year. The show is hosted by TVXQ‘s Changmin with mentors 2PM’s Wooyoung, Jung Jinyoung, WINNER‘s Kang Seung Yoon, and (G)I-DLE’s Jeon Soyeon. The program is divided into four “semesters” and the final 12 contestants who pass all four stages will make the debut lineup.

Last week, “Fantasy Boys” dropped their group performance of the show’s signature song “FANTASY” and held its first rankings ceremony.

On the April 13 broadcast, the contestants of “Fantasy Boys” kicked off a new mission. Taking place ahead of their official mission was a visual vote where each contestant was given five votes to choose the show’s best looking members. Although some contestants received more votes than others, the boys made sure that nobody had zero votes.

Voted most good looking by his fellow contestants was Hong Seongmin. In second place was Yu Junwon, followed by Taeseon in third.

After, producer Wooyoung introduced “visual” as the evaluation subject for their second semester. For their Visual Mission, the contestants were given the option of six costumes, each representing a different concept, which they got to choose in the order of last week’s ranking.

The mission songs correlated with each concept were revealed to be BTS’s “Boy In Luv,” Stray Kids’ “Thunderous,” TXT’s “CROWN,” NCT’s “90’s Love,” THE BOYZ’s “The Stealer,” and ATEEZ’s “Deja Vu.”

Wooyoung explained, “The second semester Visual Mission is an individual battle, not a team battle.” In order to determine who got to take on the “heart-fluttering part” of each song, the teams held runway stages where the contestant whose photo was taken the most was awarded the coveted position.

Eventually, the positions went to Kim Gyurae of team “Boy In Luv,” K-Soul of team “Thunderous,” Hikari of team “CROWN,” Kang Minseo of team “90’s Love,” Ling Qi of team “The Stealer,” and Hong Seongmin of team “Deja Vu.”

Following each performance, the vote rankings were revealed. For team “The Stealer,” Ling Qi came in first after performing the “heart-fluttering part.” In second was Kim Wooseok, followed by Kim Kyuhyun, Jeong Deunhaesol, Daniel Hyunoo Lachapelle, Moon Hyeokjun, and Ivan.

After the performance by team “Thunderous,” there was revealed to be a tie for first place between Keum Jinho and K-Soul. Jin Myungjae took third, followed by Kim Seungjun, Nam Seunghyun, Kim Beomjun, and Park Mingeun.

The next episode of “Fantasy Boys,” which will feature the remaining Visual Mission performances, airs on April 20 at 10 p.m. KST.
