The cast of “Curtain Call” is elegant, bright, and playful in a new behind-the-scenes clip from their poster shoot!
KBS2’s “Curtain Call” tells the story of an elderly hotelier from North Korea who doesn’t have much time left to live and a theatre actor who acts as her grandson in order to fulfill her final wish. Kang Ha Neul stars as Yoo Jae Heon, the unknown theatre actor who undertakes a life-changing endeavor, while Ha Ji Won stars as heiress Park Se Yeon, who manages the Nakwon Hotel owned by her grandmother Ja Geum Soon (Go Doo Shim).
Ha Ji Won introduces herself and her character Park Se Yeon before continuing, “[My character] is Nakwon Hotel’s general manager who protects and wants to continue protecting the hotel that is her grandmother’s dream. Although she was born and raised in a wealthy family, she’s a character who thinks about what kind of values she’ll pursue in life.” With a bright laugh, Ha Ji Won adds, “Also, she’s a good older sister.”
Laughing, Kang Ha Neul explains that he plays both Yoo Jae Heon and Ri Moon Sung. He shares, “The people watching this video are likely very curious. Why does he have two names?” He explains that a special circumstance turns theatre actor Yoo Jae Heon into Ri Moon Sung and comments, “That’s how this story of emotion and chaotic growth with Geum Soon comes to be.”
As the two actors kick off their paired poster shoot, they giggle and try their best to remain professional despite the strong wind ruining their hair.
Go Doo Shim introduces Ja Geum Soon as self-made, who works her way up to hotel CEO from a restaurant employee, and explains that she felt charmed by the character’s success. She continued, “Also, I’ve played a lot of broad roles as a mother, so I wanted to try wearing some pretty clothes. As it was the role of a grandmother who had overcome all hardships, I chose to partake.”
Before taking their group photos, Ha Ji Won raves about how graceful and cute Go Doo Shim is while Kang Ha Neul shares that he is constantly thinking about what viewers will think about their drama. Go Doo Shim talks about how outstanding Kang Ha Neul is and adds about Ha Ji Won, “I like Ha Ji Won’s attitude of always working with a healthy image, so I thought she was a great actress. Of course, I’ve experienced a lot while working together. As expected, it’s great.”
Choi Dae Hoon reveals that a key viewing point of “Curtain Call” is that there’s a play within a play. Ha Ji Won chimes in to the complexity of each role as she shares that their portrayals come in two parts, adding a layer of acting while acting.
Noh Sang Hyun chooses the diverse characters and their relationships as a key point while Ji Seung Hyun comments, “I believe that this will become a drama that allows you to rethink the meaning of family.” Go Doo Shim, Hwang Woo Seul Hye, and Jung Ji So all agree that family is one of the most crucial and important aspects of both life and the drama.
