Ahead of its November premiere, a new clip from the first script reading of “I Don’t Feel Like Doing Anything” (literal translation) has been released!
“I Don’t Feel Like Doing Anything” (previously titled “Summer Strike”) is a Genie TV original drama based on a popular webtoon of the same name. The romance story is about people who decide to quit their current lifestyles in the busy city and move to a small town to do nothing, where they’re ultimately able to find themselves.
Im Siwan plays Ahn Dae Bum, who is living a life full of unanswered questions as he works as a librarian in a small seaside village named Angok. Alongside Im Siwan, Seolhyun plays Lee Yeo Reum, a woman who has voluntarily taken up a life of unemployment to go to Angok where she lives in an empty billiards hall.
The script reading took place in April 2022. Im Siwan, Seolhyun, Shin Eun Soo, Bang Jae Min and other actors were present along with director Lee Yoon Jung and writer Hong Moon Pyo.
Seolhyun was quick to get immersed in her role, showcasing all sides of her acting as she expressed her character’s initial exhaustion and burnout, only to transform into a warm and empathetic individual upon entering the small village of Angok.
Im Siwan perfectly captured his role as the shy and easily flustered Ahn Dae Bum, drawing in viewers with his portrayal of a man hiding secrets and past wounds behind this timid and innocent exterior.
Seolhyun stated, “I empathized a lot with Yeo Reum’s character. I think a lot of people will be able to relate to her.” Meanwhile, Im Siwan explained that he chose this project because it seemed like a story that helps resolve people’s desires to escape a busy city life. He added, “If you focus on the friendly atmosphere that you can only feel in the countryside, I think you’ll be able to heal as you watch.”
