“The First Responders” has shared a behind-the-scenes look at the cast’s rigorous training!
Starring Kim Rae Won, Son Ho Jun, and Gong Seung Yeon, SBS’s “The First Responders” is a drama about members of the police force, fire department, and paramedic team as they come together to help their city in any way they can.
The drama’s latest making-of clip takes viewers to the cast’s firefighter training before filming. First, they learn about how to properly put on their protective gear and equipment. Son Ho Jun expresses his surprise at how heavy everything is and Jung Jin Woo busily asks the real-life firefighters various questions about the gear. Once fully dressed and equipped, Gong Seung Yeon comments on how slow her body feels and adds with a giggle, “This isn’t easy…”
The cast then moves on to rope, knot, and hose training. Back inside, the actors continue with CPR training, learning how to bandage a wound, and other first aid procedures.
Regarding his new role, Son Ho Jun comments, “I’m really nervous. As firefighters go through so much and work in dangerous conditions, I will do my best and film diligently to not be an inconvenience to them.” He picks the heavy equipment as the most memorable part of training and shares, “Real firefighters continue on while carrying all that so I felt that they are so amazing and I began thinking that I needed to train my stamina a lot.”
Gong Seung Yeon shares, “For starters, I’m really looking forward to it. As we did our training today, I thought about the incredibly heavy responsibility, how there is so much to do, and that there was a lot I needed to learn. So I’m really busy right now!”
She chooses their CPR training as the most memorable then adds, “I also held a [fire hose] nozzle for the first time today and it was much heavier than I imagined, so I am a bit worried. I think I’ll feel very pressured physically so I’ll have to build up my strength.”
