Dr Romantic season 3 (낭만닥터 김사부3) is the latest season of the romance medical Kdrama of the same name directed by Yoo In-shik. The show stars Han Seok-kyu, Lee Sung-kyung, Ahn Hyo-seop, Kim Joo-heon, So Ju-yeon, and Jin Kyung, alongside other cast members.

The new season brings the grand opening of Doldam Trauma Centre but with new challenges as Kim Sa-bu and his team face them in their professional and personal lives. As the scale of incidents and accidents that the hospital has to manage, the team has to provide top-quality care for their patients.

Dr Romantic season 3 episode 8 begins with Sa-bu and Eun-jae trying their best to save the patient, and just when things seem to go downhill, the patient survives. Eun-jae quickly pulls herself back to the surgery and continues. Meanwhile, Eun-tak is taken away by the people who came along with the man who knows about his past.

He is then beaten up and threatened to get drugs for him or else the video of his almost hitting a patient will be leaked. Meanwhile, Gi-tae finds out that the shooter is an ex-military man and may have infiltrated the hospital. Right then, numerous patients rush into the hospital seeking help.

Woo-jin looks around for Eun-tak’s whereabouts when he is called to attend to the patients who have just arrived. Deciding against informing Sa-bu about this, for now, he along with the limited staff begin administering treatment to the patients. Elsewhere, Jin-man smoothly finished his surgery and passes on the baton to Sa-bu.

During this, Jin-man and Nurse Oh notice Sa-bu’s wrist movements that seem to point towards an issue. Jin-man then leaves the room to come by Eun-jae who does not reveal much about what happened during her surgery. It is Do-il who tells Jin-man about Eun-jae’s surgery anxiety and how Sa-bu saved her this time.

Eun-jae then comes across In-soo who is standing outside the observation room looking at his patient. He tells her about the trauma the teenager’s death has caused him which made him doubtful about his skills. Eun-jae reveals that she too almost lost her patient today.

At Doldam Hospital, the team continues to treat the many patients while Gi-tae continues to look for the shooter. He then shows the picture to a nurse who reveals that it was the patient Woo-jin brought back earlier that day. They soon transfer this information to the trauma centre and Sa-bu.

Eun-tak returns with a bruised face which concerns Ah-reum, Woo-jin and even Dong-hwa. Before Woo-jin can ponder most about it, he is told about the shooter. Sa-bu finishes his surgery and rushes to meet with Jin-man and the military officials. He makes a plan to safeguard the staff and patients before rushing to the hospital himself.

Woo-jin passes on Sa-bu’s plan to the others at the hospital and rushes to aid them. Jin-man tells his daughter to rush to safety as soon as possible but Eun-jae refuses to do so as her patient is her priority. Dong-hwa arrives to observe his patient in the ICU when the shooter appears with the intention to kill the patient who is also in the military.

Dong-hwa refuses to leave and lets him do so when Woo-jin arrives and tries to talk him out of what he is doing. Sa-bu arrives at the hospital and right then the sound of bullets being fired is heard everywhere. Sa-bu quickly rushes to the floor where the sound came from and sees a mess.

Eun-tak rushes to treat the man who threatened him while Sa-bu checks up on Dong-hwa. Sa-bu then asks him about Woo-jin and rushes to find him. Meanwhile, Woo-jin is taken away by the shooter who tries to prove that what he is doing is righteous. Woo-jin opposes his thoughts and tells him about his own past and how hard it was for him to reach this stage.

The shooter does not budge and tells him to prepare to die together after which he points his gun towards Woo-jin. Right then Eun-jae’s call on his phone brings back his will to survive. Woo-jin picks up his phone and begins to leave when the shooter presses the trigger.

The sound shakes Sa-bu who is almost there when Woo-jin appears and is unharmed. Sa-bu finally sighs in relief and warns him to not throw himself in a dangerous situation again. The military men arrive and head off to capture the shooter.

Soon, Eun-jae too arrives and begins yelling at Woo-jin. Sa-bu leaves them alone while Woo-jin smiles at her yelling and tells her “I love you” while appreciating her presence in his life. He then sees Sa-bu complaining to the officers for not having given them the whole information. Woo-jin is grateful towards everyone at this moment.

Elsewhere, Ah-reum is treating the man who hurt Eun-tak, and is about to administer painkillers to him when Eun-tak stops her and reveals that he is an addict. The man tries to guilt-trip Eun-tak who tells him that the death of his friend was never his fault. The police soon arrive and take the man away.

Eun-tak later reveals his past to Ah-reum, but looking at his insecurities, Ah-reum too tells him about herself. She assures him while accepting his past and tells him that it is his present that matters to her.

Meanwhile, Sa-bu compliments Dong-hwa before arriving at his office to see Nurse Oh waiting for him. She later asks him about his wrist and how far things have progressed with it. Elsewhere, Jin-man talks to Eun-jae about what happened with her patient after which he has a proud father moment.

The Doldam team finally find a peaceful moment filled with smiles and joy when a letter from the court shocks Sa-bu. It is from the assemblyman who has filed a case against Jin-man and In-soo. The next day, Sun-woong too receives his parcel and it is a lens for the colourblind.

Dr Romantic Season 3 Episode 8 Review

Episode 8 has really been a rollercoaster for us all and looks like the show isn’t just giving the doctors a trauma. From joy to proud moments, to fear and anxiety that stayed till the surprising end, this episode had it all. But what really stuck out today was the righteousness of this profession which has a responsibility that is not easy to carry.

Another highlight has to be Woo-jin’s appreciation towards life after he came face to face with death. As he looks at everyone around him and shows his gratefulness, his character has reached another level of maturity today. The same goes for Eun-jae who is able to pull herself back from her anxiety so quickly.
