Jun 2, 2023

Dr Romantic season 3 episode 11 begins with Jin-man presenting his closing statement during the trial against Assemblyman Koo. He goes on to speak about how the profession of surgeons itself is being looked down upon with the various lawsuits that are filed against them which scares young medical students from becoming surgeons.

He then focuses on the severe lack of surgeons across hospitals, which only creates problems for the public. While he puts forth his argument, a flashback of the young resident Woo Sang-min who committed suicide while under Jin-man’s mentorship is seen.

The court soon rules the case in favour of Doldam Hospital, however, assemblyman Koo is not satisfied and is ready to make an appeal. Kim Sa-bu is given this news while he thinks of when she had given him the option to let go of Jin-man in exchange for dropping the lawsuit and helping them with the provincial budget.

Meanwhile, someone sneaks inside Jin-man’s office and leaves a surprise for him. On the other hand, A-reum is still angry because of Eun-tak’s actions. Dong-hwa notices this and gives her a suggestion to work with him so that they can make Eun-tak jealous. A-reum rejects his suggestion as she is not ready to make use of Dong-hwa to test Eun-tak.

Elsewhere, Eun-jae’s mother comes to live with her and Jin-man only to find out that Woo-jin has been living in the house with Eun-jae before her parents showed up. Her mother is against this and tells her how Woo-jin is an irresponsible man to be cohabiting before getting married.

At Doldam, Woo-jin carries on with his physiotherapy but is dissatisfied with the progress. Later, Moon-jung discusses his situation with Kim Sa-bu and reveals that even Woo-jin hand is destined to not go back to how it was, unaware that this has been overheard by Eun-jae.

She then meets Woo-jin who is very optimistic about his hand and is focused on recovering it. Recalling her mother’s and Moon-jung’s words, Eun-jae asks Woo-jin to get married. Woo-jin is shocked by this and refuses to go along, this leaves her shocked.

Two emergency patients are brought in one after another, while one holds Eun-tak, A-reum rushes to treat the other. Dong-hwa then shows up beside her and helps her on the sidelines. The patient is soon stabilised after which the two share a laugh when Dong-hwa reminds her of using him.

Eun-tak notices this but is unable to leave at the moment. Elsewhere, Min-guk tells Kim Sa-bu about what had happened in court and asks him to think about Assemblyman Koo’s offer. However, Kim Sa-bu is not ready to go along with this and asks him to keep patient while talking about the kind of leader he would like for Min-guk to become for Doldam.

On the other hand, Jin-man sees the pen box on his table, but when he opens it he sees a bloodied pen with Woo Sang-min’s name on it. This shocks him and he begins to look into who could have done this, but what he finds is footage of someone leaving his office with a paper bag over their head.

He then looks into the information of the doctors at Doldam, especially those who are from Hankook University, and finds a suspect. Meanwhile, Min-guk is also ready with a plan of his own. Elsewhere, Eun-jae continues to wait for Woo-jin to call her but gets nothing other than her mom’s calls.

Jin-man calls for Sun-woong to his office on the pretext of helping him sort out some files, however, this is a test for the latter. He soon figures out that Sun-woong is not only an acquaintance of Woo Sang-min’s but also the partially colourblind individual he had once disqualified.

Jin-man is sure that it was Sun-woong who tried to threaten him with the bloodied pen and rushes him into Min-guk’s office to have him removed. The news soon spreads throughout Doldam Hospital and trauma centre along with Jin-man’s past is also brought to light.

This is soon heard by Eun-jae who is distressed because it is her father who is at the receiving end of these rumours. Meanwhile, Kim Sa-bu is also brought to Min-guk’s office and Jin-man puts forth his request to have Sun-woong removed from Doldam.

When asked on what basis he has to be removed, Jin-man tells them about the pen incident as well as the truth about Sun-woong’s colourblindness. Kim Sa-bu tells him that Sun-woong had told them about his visual problem to them when he got hired and Moon-jung before the surgery they performed together.

They tell Jin-man that they cannot base his claims on the fact that Sun-woong has a visual deficiency and the case comes to an end. The defeated Jin-man leaves the office but there are fingers pointing at him throughout Doldam because the rumors have already been spread.

On the other hand, Kim Sa-bu soon understands that this was a play orchestrated by Min-guk to kick Jin-man out of Doldam. We then find out that it was indeed Sun-woong who entered Jin-man’s office. This happened after Kim Sa-bu rejected Assemblyman Koo’s offer when Min-guk saw Sun-woong outside the room.

Jin-man and Eun-jae are left distressed after this incident, while Woo-jin tries to find out the identity of the person in the footage.

Dr Romantic Season 3 Episode 11 Review

From trouble in the couples’ paradise to trouble in a career, a lot happened in this episode and this is only the beginning. Episode 11 opens up the route for more drama because right when we thought that Park Min-guk is ready to completely trust Kim Sa-bu, he goes down to try taking an easier route.

On the other hand, why does it feel like Jin-man’s words are making quite some sense when it comes to the profession as a whole? While it is true that he isn’t one of the best characters out there, his words show a different side of the coin and wake us up to the problems faced by surgeons who are being moulded into such characters because of some people.

Season 3 is definitely showing us a new side of the people connected to this profession and has brought in an even better season. While some scenes have left us in awe and filled with gratitude, others have brought us a new sense of realisation.

Altogether, the episode has once again laid the groundwork for more amazing moments and the previews have proved that we really need to look forward to what is to come. A reunion that is bound to result in one of the best teams ever.
