MBC’s new Friday-Saturday drama “Chief Detective 1958” has dropped a new teaser!
“Chief Detective 1958” will serve as a prequel to the classic Korean series “Chief Inspector,” which ran for 18 years from 1971 to 1989 and achieved incredible peak ratings of 70 percent.
While the original show was set in the 1970s and 1980s (present day at the time), “Chief Detective 1958” will be set even earlier in the 1960s. Lee Je Hoon will be playing a younger version of the titular chief inspector Park Young Han, who was played by Choi Bool Am in the original series. The drama also stars Lee Dong Hwi, Choi Woo Sung, and Yoon Hyun Soo as members of Park Young Han’s squad.
The newly released teaser video begins with a confident self-introduction by Park Young Han, a detective who has just arrived in Seoul. He is a passionate detective with a record for the highest arrest rate of petty thieves in Gyeonggi province. However, his investigative operations in Seoul are not easy in 1958, a time that marks the beginning of a dark era.
From murder cases to car explosions, Park Young Han and his colleagues become frustrated, angry, and shed tears as they experience difficult situations together. Nevertheless, Park Young Han shows his firm determination by saying, “There are only two things that we need to remember from now on—to protect the weak and beat up the bad guys.” Anticipation is high for the exciting investigations that Park Young Han’s squad will carry out.
