“Yumi’s Cells” has shared a new sneak peek of its highly-anticipated second season!
Based on the popular webtoon of the same name, “Yumi’s Cells” tells the story of an ordinary office worker named Yumi—from the point of view of the many brain cells in her head controlling her every thought, feeling, and action. Kim Go Eun plays the titular role of Yumi, an ordinary woman who struggles with expressing her feelings. The first season of “Yumi’s Cells,” which became the first K-drama ever to combine live action and 3D animation, aired in autumn 2021 and received a lot of love from viewers.
The newly released teaser for Season 2 begins with Yumi struggling in the aftermath of her breakup with Goo Woong (played by Ahn Bo Hyun). When she wakes up in the middle of the night filled with regret over the breakup, Yumi finds herself dialing her ex late at night—despite her pride cell’s valiant efforts to get her to hang up.
Yumi’s cells observe in voice-over, “Even as you get older, the storm that comes after [a breakup] is still as fierce as ever. But the one thing that’s changed is this.” Despite her inner turmoil, Yumi’s newfound maturity enables her to pretend to be fine at work, and she does her best to act overly sunny and cheerful around her co-workers. Ruby (Lee Yoo Bi) even exclaims in amazement, “Wow, if you didn’t say anything, I would never have known that you had broken up. How can someone be so cool and nonchalant?”
However, one person at work is immune to her act: Yoo Babi (GOT7’s Jinyoung), who immediately sees right through her false exterior. “Even if you don’t say anything, it all shows on your face,” he tells her, before gently asking her with a comforting smile, “You’re okay, right? Find strength.”
“Yumi’s Cells 2” premieres on June 10 and will be available with subtitles on Dramacool. In the meantime, check out the new teaser below!
