tvN’s upcoming weekend drama “Alchemy of Souls” has shared an intriguing glimpse of Jung So Min and Lee Jae Wook’s relationship!
Helmed by “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim” director Park Joon Hwa, “Alchemy of Souls” is a fantasy romance drama set in the fictional nation of Daeho, a country that does not exist in history or on maps. The drama will tell the story of characters whose fates become twisted due to magic that swaps people’s souls.
The upcoming drama will be penned by the famous screenwriting duo known as the Hong Sisters (Hong Jung Eun and Hong Mi Ran), whose previous works include the hit dramas “You’re Beautiful,” “My Girlfriend is a Gumiho,” “The Greatest Love,” “Master’s Sun,” “Hotel Del Luna,” and more.
Lee Jae Wook will play the role of sophisticated yet troublemaking young master Jang Wook of the Jang family. Jang Wook has a tragic backstory, with the entire nation of Daeho whispering about the shocking secret behind his scandalous birth. Despite seeming cool and indifferent on the outside, he is burning with fiery mischievousness on the inside.
Jung So Min will star as Mu Deok Yi, who secretly harbors the soul of the great assassin Nak Soo. However, this fierce soul is stuck in an impossibly weak body that cannot keep up with Nak Soo’s powerful spirit. After becoming the attendant and secret teacher of the young master Jang Wook, she begins training him in a brutal, merciless manner.
The new teaser opens up with Jung So Min introducing herself as the great Nak Soo, and her powerful charisma is overwhelming. However, it all instantly goes down with a comical twist as she falls onto the ground, complaining, “Argh, I got cramps!”
At the moment, Nak Soo’s soul is stuck in the body of Mu Deok Yi, whose job is to serve the troublemaker Jang Wook. He makes her blood boil, and she gets agitated when he slams his spoon down and says, “I don’t want to eat. Take it away.” He goes a step further to increase her irritation by making her draw water for his bath. He comments, “The water is too hot. What are you doing?” Gritting her teeth, she answers, “Yes, Master” as she goes to fulfill his order.
Mu Deok Yi glares darkly at Jang Wook as he enjoys his bath, and she vows, “When I regain my strength, I’ll kill him first.” The clip ends with Jang Wook scolding her for giving him the evil eye, and he orders, “You shouldn’t glare at me like that. Look away.”
“Alchemy of Souls” will premiere on June 18 at 9:10 p.m. KST.
