Nam Gyu Ri will be joining Yoo Ji Tae and Lee Yo Won in MBC’s upcoming spy drama “Lee Mong.”
“Lee Mong” is an espionage melodrama that takes place in Gyeongseong (present-day Seoul), Manchuria, and Singapore during the Japanese colonial occupation. It will tell the story of Korean surgeon Lee Young Jin (Lee Yo Won) who was adopted by Japanese parents and Kim Bong Won (Yoo Ji Tae), the leader of a secret society fighting for Korean independence. The two begin working together as undercover operatives for the Korean provisional government based in Shanghai.
Nam Gyu Ri will play the role of Mickey, a singer who works at Gyeongseong club house and captivates the hearts of many upper-class men. At the beginning, she doesn’t see eye to eye with Lee Young Jin, but after discovering the truth about Lee Young Jin, they become joined at the hip. However, Mickey later finds out that the love her life, Fukuda (Im Joo Hwan), is in love with Lee Young Jin, and she becomes a walking time-bomb overloaded with jealousy.
Currently, Nam Gyu Ri stars in MBC’s “Children of Nobody,” where she successfully changed up her image as a mysterious detective with a short haircut and emotionless face who doesn’t share much about her personal life.
“Lee Mong” will premiere sometime in 2019.
