Warning: mentions of domestic violence.
ENA’s upcoming drama “Lies Hidden in My Garden” has shared a new glimpse of Lim Ji Yeon’s character’s hellish living situation.
Based on the best-selling novel of the same name, “Lies Hidden in My Garden” is a suspenseful thriller about two women who lead entirely different lives—before a suspicious smell in one of their backyards brings them together in ways that they could never have expected.
Kim Tae Hee will star as Joo Ran, a housewife who seems to have the perfect life, with a husband and son that anyone would envy. However, cracks begin to form in her happy home when she notices a strange stench emanating from her backyard.
“The Glory” star Lim Ji Yeon will play Sang Eun, a victim of domestic violence who dreams of escaping her hellish reality. Choi Jae Rim will play her vicious husband Yoon Bum, a pharmaceutical salesman who blackmails the doctors on his accounts with evidence of their corruption.
In newly released stills from the upcoming drama, Sang Eun looks miserable and worn down as she goes about her everyday life with her husband and tormentor. In one photo, her eyes are cast down to the floor as he menacingly glares at her from up close; in another, she looks empty and defeated as she quietly sits next to him in a car.
The producers of “Lies Hidden in My Garden” remarked, “The acting chemistry between Lim Ji Yeon, who plays Sang Eun, and Choi Jae Rim, who plays Yoon Bum, is outstanding. We’ve been surprised by their detailed and exceptional acting in every scene as they capture the complicated relationship between a couple that is victim and perpetrator of domestic violence, while also being spouses who know more about each other than anyone.”
They went on to add, “In the drama, a shocking incident will happen to the characters of Choi Jae Rim and Lim Ji Yeon, who had been struggling to escape from her dreary life. This incident will become a mystery that shakes up the story like a whirlwind. Please keep an eye on it.”
“Lies Hidden in My Garden” will premiere on June 19.
