Ku Hye-sun announces impending divorce from Ahn Jae-hyun

Aug 18, 2019

Ku Hye-sun revealed on August 18 that her husband Ahn Jae-hyun wanted to get a divorce and end their three-year marriage, shocking many of the couple’s fans since there had previously been no rumors to suggest that their marriage has been on the rocks.

The two actors starred in the KBS2 drama Blood in 2015 and went on to tie the knot with each other in May of the following year.

Early Sunday morning, Ku Hye-sun took to Instagram to share a message about her impending divorce from Ahn Jae-hyun. “After we lost our spark, my husband has had a change of heart and wants a divorce,” she said.

However, the actress stated that she wanted “to stay married” and said something about Ahn Jae-hyun releasing a statement next week. According to her, his representatives will supposedly release news reports that are “completely untrue.” She hoped “that the truth will come to light.”

Later that morning, Ku Hye-sun posted on Instagram what appear to be screenshots of text messages between her and Ahn Jae-hyun. Based on their conversation, the two have already agreed to part ways with one another although Ku Hye-sun seems upset about it. She wanted Ahn Jae-hyun to meet her mother in person to apologize “for the fact that you weren’t able to keep your promises from when we got married.”

Ku Hye-sun and Ahn Jae-hyun’s agency, HB Entertainment, has yet to release an official statement about the couple’s breakup.

Ku Hye-sun is best known for playing the lead female role in the 2009 romantic comedy Boys Over Flowers opposite Lee Min-ho. She most recently starred in the 2017 drama You Are Too Much, although she dropped out in the middle of the production due to a serious health concern.

Meanwhile, Ahn Jae-hyun made his TV acting debut in 2013 through the hit series My Love From Another Star. He had since then appeared in at least one drama every year—You’re All Sorrounded (2014), Blood (2015), Cinderella And Four Knights (2016), Reunited Worlds (2017), and The Beauty Inside (2018). The actor had been confirmed to headline the upcoming rom-com People With Flaws that is expected to premiere in November.
