“My Sweet Mobster” has gained a lot of recognition in its latest episodes among many K-drama lovers, winning new fans every week and topping most buzzworthy rankings. Last week truly lived up to its name, gifting us with not one but several moments full of romance, laughter, and heartwarming scenes. As the show only has two more weeks left to go, it feels like this might be the calm before the storm for Seo Ji Hwan (Um Tae Goo) and Go Eun Ha (Han Sun Hwa), who have successfully started a romantic relationship; however, let’s enjoy it while it lasts. Here are the most emotive and special moments from last week’s episodes.
Warning: spoilers from episodes 11-12 ahead!
Previously, when Go Eun Ha and Seo Ji Hwan confirmed their mutual feelings, they had us waiting to see their fabulous lovey-dovey era, and they didn’t disappoint. In last week’s episodes, romance finally starts to bloom between them, and they don’t shy away from demonstrating how much in love they are. They are overflowing with love, so much so that they are even able to turn a breakfast table into a honey dripping buffet in front of the rest of the Thirsty Deer family. Ji Hwan doesn’t miss any chance he gets to be around Eun Ha, even if that means delaying his men for an entire hour only because he’s unable to say goodbye to his girlfriend.

Having a mature couple enjoying simple dates, getting to know more about each other, and at the same time being complete fools in love might be one of the biggest charms of this K-drama so far. Ji Hwan takes advantage of every chance he has to dote on his cute girlfriend, especially after she shyly starts her own new channel after so much rejection. He even has a small fight with none other than Jang Hyun Woo (Kwon Yool) to see who is the biggest fan of Eun Ha’s new channel. Sadly, she is unaware of this and inadvertently favors Hyun Woo, something that makes Ji Hwan sulk beyond measure. Luckily, they are mature enough to resolve the issues that come along with all new relationships.

Another thing to obsess over in these couple of episodes is the still uncertain relationship between Joo Il Yeong (Kim Hyun Jin) and Gu Mi Ho (Moon Ji In). Since the beginning of the drama, their electrifying chemistry is something many have loved, but there are still so many things unresolved between them that it is difficult to figure out whether they will end up together or not. The most important thing that they have to figure out first is probably the unexpected pregnancy and Mi Ho rejecting Il Yeong after he treated their one-night stand as a mistake.
However, this time around, Il Yeong is trying his best to let go of his insecurities. He approaches Mi Ho first, although not in the best way, since he arrives at her house drunk, making all kinds of cute mistakes. We also get to know a little bit more about him, like the fact that he grew up in an orphanage. Still, the most heart-fluttering moment comes when he confesses that he really likes her and that he wholeheartedly wishes to be by her side. And though Mi Ho’s reluctance is understandable, since she doesn’t know much about Il Yeong still, viewers are already wishing that the ship of their relationship successfully sails as well.

One of the best things in this K-drama is without a doubt the Thirsty Deer gang. They have brought so much laughter and comedy into the game that even the most annoying scenes are easy to forget thanks to them. This time around, they not only gave us a lot to laugh about, but they were also heart-warming by being a full group of sweet mobsters. They are the main supporters of Ji Hwan and Eun Ha’s new relationship, and they also protect each other in the best way possible. For example, when they see Hyun Woo talking with Eun Ha, they rush to bring him inside their house to interrogate him, though later on they find out he’s a prosecutor and quickly change their attitude.
From episode 1 we could already foresee the great bond Eun Ha and all the members from Thirsty Deer would form and that they would actually turn into a true family. And we actually see it in its purest form when she joins them to go deliver supplies for an orphanage they patronize, and she encourages them to play with the children for the first time. It’s a sight that will almost make you cry a river when they realize they can actually overcome their harsh appearances and show how truly nice and kindhearted they are. This is also a moment for Ji Hwan to realize that Eun Ha not only brought love to his heart, but she also gifted his family with new light and happiness.
We know Seo Ji Hwan has a difficult relationship with his past, but it’s mostly due to his connection with his father. And now, after seeing how the shadow of this man is threatening the peace Ji Hwan has fought so hard for, he is pushed to tell Eun Ha more about how he came to be a mobster in the first place. We see how he refuses to be part of his father’s gang after he is taken away when he was a young boy, but later on, he forcibly goes back in order to get the money that could save his mother’s life. Sadly, his mother passes away, but seeing that he is indebted to his father, he has no other option but to be by his side, forgetting about all the dreams he had and even his name. He had to leave his life as Hyun Woo behind and start living as the mobster Seo Ji Hwan.
This heart-to-heart solidifies the opinion that Eun Ha already had about him. Ever since the moment he saved her at the hospital, she noticed the good heart that he has and how he and his men really strive to be better every time, so she offers to help him achieve his goal to never go back to the past. Unfortunately, this beautiful moment might come to an end sooner than later, since we see how some danger is approaching their way. Will they be able to resolve their problems and escape the misfortune with just a few episodes left? We must tune in this week to see what “My Sweet Mobster” has yet in store for us!
