Hyeri is stealing the hearts of viewers in KBS2’s “Moonshine”!

“Moonshine” is a drama set in the Joseon era, during the time when prohibition laws were at their strongest. The series tells the love story of Kang Ro Seo, a struggling aristocrat who starts illegally making alcohol in order to support her family (played by Hyeri), and Joseon’s greatest inspector Nam Young, who is known for living a very principled life (played by Yoo Seung Ho).

Hyeri perfectly transformed into the memorable character Kang Ro Seo, who supports her family’s livelihood by making alcohol illegally. What started out as an attempt to pay back her brother’s debt soon turned into something much bigger as she began making contracts with store owners and working her way up into becoming a professional at her trade. The bright energy that Hyeri lends to this fierce and hard-working character only serves to heighten the viewers’ interest in her quest.

2. Kang Ro Seo’s drive and dedication

Viewers are also cheering on Kang Ro Seo as she sets out to achieve her goals by saying “no” to three things: turning back, bothering others, and flashy clothes.

Kang Ro Seo is someone who dives headfirst into whatever she’s decided to do, without taking time to look back. When she first decided to go into the illegal alcohol business, she ignored all the attempts to dissuade her.

Furthermore, she also believes strongly in cleaning up her own messes and refusing to leave a burden on anyone’s shoulders. Unlike many female protagonists who receive help from other male characters, Kang Ro Seo flips the traditional roles as she saves Nam Young herself. In addition, Kang Ro Seo also charms viewers with her keen gaze and warm-hearted nature instead of relying on fancy clothes and other aesthetical aspects.

3. Hyeri’s passionate acting

It is thanks to the great effort Hyeri puts into every detail of her role that Kang Ro Seo is able to be such an influential character. When Hyeri had to film a scene where Kang Ro Seo rolled around in a field of manure, it was revealed that the filming actually took place in such a location. Despite the numerous bugs and the stench, Hyeri’s professionalism led to the creation of a scene that has come to represent her character.

What’s more, Hyeri also completed her action scenes in a manner most befitting of Kang Ro Seo, who is not used to shooting a gun, among other things.

Viewers are looking forward to watching Hyeri’s portrayal of the industrious and charming Kang Ro Seo as the drama continues.
