Yoo Yeon Seok has shared his thoughts on his role in TVING’s upcoming drama “A Bloody Lucky Day”!

Based on the webtoon of the same name, “A Bloody Lucky Day” is a suspenseful thriller starring Lee Sung Min as Oh Taek, a taxi driver who is offered an unusually high fare to drive a passenger to Mokpo. On his way there, he discovers that his high-paying passenger is a serial killer.

Yoo Yeon Seok will star as Geum Hyuk Soo, the murderer who asks Oh Taek for a ride to Mokpo. In newly released stills from the upcoming drama, Geum Hyuk Soo wears his hat low to cover his face as he hails Oh Taek’s cab. Although he wears a smile, there is something strangely chilling about his facial expression. Another photo shows Geum Hyuk Soo looking sinister in the dark, lit only by the ominous red light of Oh Taek’s taxi.

Explaining his decision to play a serial killer, Yoo Yeon Seok shared, “I recently played characters with a warm and kind image in medical or romance dramas, so I wanted to show a new side of myself that I hadn’t shown viewers before.” He went on, “While reading the script and the webtoon, I thought that if I played the character of Geum Hyuk Soo, I’d definitely be able to find a new side of myself that hadn’t been discovered before.”

As for how he prepared for the role, Yoo Yeon Seok remarked, “Because [Geum Hyuk Soo] is a murderer who doesn’t reciprocate others’ emotions or feel pain, it was difficult for me to sympathize with him or align my feelings with his own, the way that I do for other roles. I searched for and watched a lot of interviews of real-life psychopathic criminals, and one trait they had in common was that they kept their eyes wide open with a sharp glint while talking. I thought that was similar to the Geum Hyuk Soo from the original webtoon, so when I was acting, I tried to express that chilling glint hidden inside an innocent gaze.”
