On December 31, the 2021 KBS Drama Awards kicked off at the Yeouido KBS Hall in Seoul, hosted by Kim So Hyun, Lee Do Hyun, and Sung Si Kyung.
The 2021 KBS Drama Awards celebrated the best and brightest of their dramas, including drama specials, long-form dramas, (50+ episodes), and mini-series. One of the biggest winners of the night was the popular (and currently airing) long-form weekend drama “Young Lady and Gentleman,” which took home the Daesang for star Ji Hyun Woo.
Ji Hyun Woo said, “I didn’t think I’d receive such a big award, but I’m grateful. I believe that I am receiving this award as a representative of ‘Young Lady and Gentleman.’ I think of it more as an award for the entire drama. When I go to the restaurant during filming, the older ladies greet me warmly. It spurs me on to work harder in order to give joy to those people and deliver emotions with warmth from the heart. I stand in front of the camera with anxiousness and fear. It is thanks to many people that I am able to stand there, I can’t do it alone.” He then thanked the cast and crew of “Young Lady and Gentleman.” He concluded, “I will continue to work to be an actor who can give the viewers feelings of warmth in their hearts.”
Other dramas awarded during the night include “River Where the Moon Rises,” “The King’s Affection,” “Youth of May,” “Police University,” “Dali and Cocky Prince,” “Revolutionary Sisters,” and more.
