Kim Bo Ra and Kim Woo Seok’s upcoming drama “Finland Papa” has shared its very first trailer and new posters!
“Finland Papa” is a six-episode romance drama that tells the story of a unique cafe named Finland Papa, where people in need of emotional healing gather together and play the roles of each other’s “fake family.” After her first love suddenly disappeared and her grandmother passed away, Lee Yu Ri (played by Kim Bo Ra) starts working at this cafe where she’s able to grow and heal her inner wounds. Kim Woo Seok will star as Baek Woo Hyun, Lee Yu Ri’s first love.
The newly released posters show the members of Finland Papa as one warm and harmonious family. The first poster shows the family of four —Yu Ri (Kim Bo Ra), Marie (Hwang Seok Jeong), Kaka (Jung Min Sung), and Toto (Jang Do Yoon)— smiling brightly while excitedly going somewhere while the second poster depicts them having a picnic together under the beautiful blue sky. The texts on the poster read, “According to the labor contract, we’re a family,” and “To be a family, one needs practice too.”
The accompanying trailer begins when Yu Ri, who just lost her grandmother whom she loved the most in the entire world, leaves for an interview at a cafe called Finland Papa. Upon arriving, Yu Ri is flustered when the other cafe staff just proceeds to present her with a delicious-looking meal out of the blue. After the awkward dinner, she asks carefully, “May I ask when is the interview?” only for Marie and Kaka to reply, “You just had it. Having dinner together [with us] was the interview.”
However, Yu Ri isn’t the only one who’s confused. The original members of Finland Papa are as flustered and reveal that they only knew Yu Ri was coming because they’d received a mail from Papa —the owner of the cafe— beforehand, but just like Yu Ri, they also have no idea who Papa really is.
After getting the job, Yu Ri starts to adapt to life with Marie, Kaka, and Toto. In Finland Papa, they are called mother, father, son, and daughter and Marie reveals that the cafe has “10 rules to maintain family harmony.” The first is “To always eat dinner together,” a rule Yu Ri likes the best as it reminds her of her late grandmother’s advice to always eat with someone.
After some time passes, Yu Ri increasingly suspects that Papa may be a person who knows her well and gets reminded of Woo Hyun (Kim Woo Seok), who was her best friend and first love when she was young. Woo Hyun used to vow to always protect Yu Ri and would never let her eat alone, only to disappear one day after a heartbreaking incident between the two.
