tvN has announced the release date of its upcoming drama and unveiled photos from the cast’s first script reading!
tvN’s new drama “Stealer: Seven Joseon Coins” (literal title) is a caper comic action drama in which a mysterious cultural asset thief Skunk and an unofficial cultural asset recovery team Karma collaborate to fight against those who cannot be judged by the law.
Alongside director Choi Joon Bae and writer Shin Kyung Il at the reading were cast members Joo Won, Lee Joo Woo, Kim Jae Won, Jo Han Chul, Choi Hwa Jung, and Lee Deok Hwa.
Ahead of the script reading, Joo Won charismatically expressed his strong aspiration by saying, “I will try my best to create an enjoyable and joyful filming set.” Joo Won will be taking on the double role of both Hwang Dae Myung, a civil servant of the Special Investigation Division of the Cultural Heritage Administration, and a mysterious cultural asset thief Skunk. At the script reading, Joo Won perfectly expressed Hwang Dae Myung’s bright and somewhat clumsy personality by delivering his lines with a fitting goofy tone paired with a mischievous smile. However, once he acted as Skunk, Joo Won professionally did a 180-degree turn and put a charismatic persona as he effortlessly shifted into the charming thief.
Lee Joo Woo will take on the role of Choi Min Woo, a highly capable police officer who gets assigned to the cultural heritage team of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency. Lee Joo Woo impressed everyone with her performance as she represented Choi Min Woo’s stubborn and outspoken nature.
Jo Han Chul will play Jang Tae In, the competent leader of the Violent Crime Section’s Drug Squad and the founder of Team Karma. Jo Han Chul skillfully expressed Jang Tae In’s wisdom and spirit in leading a secret project to recover stolen cultural assets as he realizes their value through a series of events.
Kim Jae Won brightened up the atmosphere at the script reading as he transformed into the dedicated yet playful maknae of Team Karma, Shin Chang Hoon. Meanwhile, Choi Hwa Jung boasted impressive chemistry with the other cast members as she brought out the sunny and laid-back nature of her character Lee Chun Ja, the genius hacker of the team.
Finally, impressing everyone with his charisma as the key role and main villain Kim Young Soo is the veteran actor Lee Deok Hwa. Despite standing at the peak of wealth with numerous cultural assets in his hand, Kim Young Soo is someone who is blinded by his endless greed. Anticipation is high to see how Lee Deok Hwa will vividly bring Kim Young Soo’s viciousness to life with his acting.
