The latest episode of KBS’s “Immortal Songs” featured an exciting special appearance by actor Ji Chang Wook!
On June 10, the popular singing competition program aired its first installment of its Lee Juck special, with its contestants going head-to-head with covers of the legendary singer’s hit songs.
Although he didn’t attend as a competitor, Ji Chang Wook surprised everyone by making an unexpected appearance to perform a special cover out of competition. Host Shin Dong Yup introduced the actor by saying, “Even though he isn’t a singer, there’s someone here who’s such a big fan of Lee Juck that he wanted to just sing one verse and then go.”
The crowd was then shocked to find out that the person in question was Ji Chang Wook—and the actor went on to amaze both the audience and the contestants with his singing skills as he performed a gorgeous cover of Lee Juck’s classic ballad “Laundry.”
After his performance, Ji Chang Wook explained, “I’m such a big fan of Lee Juck. You could say that he’s my No. 1 artist, really. Whenever Juck releases new songs, I listen to all of them, and I even bought and read the children’s book that Lee Juck wrote. That’s how much of a true fan I am.”
Lee Juck heaped praise on Ji Chang Wook and his performance, exclaiming, “He’s so good at singing, and he also has such a great personality.”
He went on to point out, “‘Laundry’ is actually a really hard song to sing. Towards the end, there are so many high notes, and they just keep going without stopping. The fact that he was able to sing this song so flawlessly on this kind of stage, without getting nervous, proves that his singing abilities are truly amazing.”
“With this kind of talent, I think he could have just joined the competition,” he added with a laugh. “I think a lot of people would have voted for him. Thank you so much, I really enjoyed the performance.”
