Uee talked about her role in the upcoming tvN drama “Ghost Doctor”!

Helmed by “Heirs” director Boo Sung Chul, “Ghost Doctor” is a fantasy medical drama about two doctors who could not be more different in terms of their backgrounds, skills, or personalities but who end up combining bodies and spirits.

Rain will star as genius thoracic surgeon Cha Young Min, while Kim Bum will play silver-spoon resident Go Seung Tak. Apink‘s Son Naeun will play emergency room intern Oh Soo Jung, who believes in supernatural phenomena and miracles despite studying medicine, and Uee will play neurosurgeon Jang Se Jin, who happens to be Cha Young Min’s ex-girlfriend. Jang Se Jin and Cha Young Min were lovers after meeting during their days as medical students, and they meet again 12 years later, raising questions about the future of their relationship.

Uee shared, “Jang Se Jin is a neurosurgeon from abroad and a character who has a professional and ambitious side when it comes to her job. Although she seems perfect on the outside as if she has everything, she’s a figure who is lonelier than anyone else and struggles alone. I feel sorry for her, and I want to take care of her.” She continued, “In particular, even in a situation in which she could fall down, she’s a figure with the powerful strength to use all the abilities she can for the person she loves.”

On her similarities with her character, Uee revealed, “I think we’re both similar yet different. We seem similar in the way we’re sharp and ambitious when we work, but while Jang Se Jin gives off the vibe of being hard to approach, I tend to comfortably approach people first, so I think that aspect is slightly different.”

For keywords to describe her character, Uee picked “cold on the outside, warm on the inside,” “wounded,” and “fighting alone.” She explained, “I think she’s a woman who’s cold on the outside but warmer than anyone else on the inside. Furthermore, as a wounded figure, the way she struggles alone in a difficult situation will be shown, so please check that out through the broadcast.”

The actress continued, “Since it’s my first time being a doctor through this project, professional medical terminology was so difficult for me. I found relevant videos and referred to them, and I tried to make a transformation while thinking that clean-cut short hair would look a little bit more professional on the outside.”

Finally, Uee added, “‘Ghost Doctor’ is a drama that has everything from laughter to touching emotions, fantasy elements, and tears, so it’s a comprehensive gift set.”

“Ghost Doctor” will premiere on January 3 at 10:30 p.m. KST.
