Kim Min Seok, better known by his stage name Xiumin, is a South Korean singer and actor who is best known for being a member of the K-pop boy group EXO and its Chinese subgroup EXO-M. He is from Guri, Gyeonggi, South Korea. In 2008, at age 18, he was cast into S.M. Entertainment after winning second place in the S.M. Everysing contest. Xiumin was formally introduced as the seventh member of EXO on January 26, 2012. He is in the subunit, called EXO-CBX, since 2016, along with his members Chen and Baekhyun.
In January 2015, he starred in the S.M. Entertainment's musical 'School OZ', playing the loyal Aquila with f(x)'s Luna, SHINee's Key, EXO-K's Suho, TVXQ's Changmin and Red Velvet's Seulgi. In July 2016, he made his big-screen debut in the film “Kim Sun Dal".
Xiumin enlisted for his mandatory military service as an active duty soldier on May 7, 2019 and was discharged on December 6, 2020 .
Xiumin made his solo debut with 1st mini album titled ‘Brand New’ on September 26, 2022 and becoming the seventh EXO member to have debuted as a solo singer.
On June 1, 2023, EXO’s Baekhyun, Xiumin, and Chen have notified SM Entertainment regarding the termination of their exclusive contracts.
