Otani Ryohei is a Japanese actor and model. He began his modeling career in Japan but entered the Korean entertainment world in 2003. He was featured in commercials for Dunkin' Donuts, Hyundai Motors, Olympus and SK Telecom, and later in numerous music videos. His Korean language ability and increasing popularity helped him eventually land TV roles, beginning with the 2006 MBC comedy Soulmate.
Otani's acting career in South Korea further developed in family dramas such as The Road Home and Dear My Sister, and then in the acclaimed SBS thriller, The Chaser. In 2014 he received the 7th Korea Drama Awards' Global Star Award for his role in the drama, Joseon Gunman. He has also been recognized for his film roles in the period blockbusters, War of the Arrows and The Admiral: Roaring Currents. Most recently, his Japanese acting career has taken off with roles in the 2016 dramas, Love Song and Nigeru wa Haji da ga Yaku ni Tatsu.
