Nancy Jewel McDonie, simply known as Nancy, is an American singer, dancer, and former member of MOMOLAND. She was born in South Korea but moved to Columbus at the age of 2. Her father is American and her mother is South Korean and the family spent 6 years in the U.S. before returning to South Korea.
She graduated from Hanlim Entertainment Arts High School, focusing on Musical Performance, and is currently enrolled in the Media Visual Acting program at Sungshin Women's University. Before debuting, she was a child actor and model, was a part of a hip-hop dance crew called "Cutie Pies" that auditioned for "Korea's Got Talent", and later spent time as a trainee at Nega Network. She appeared in a few MVs, such as SNUPER’s “Stand by Me” and in Gree’s “Dangerous” and has also acted in several dramas.
After 6 years as a trainee, she finally debuted in 2016 as MOMOLAND's lead vocalist, lead dancer, visual, center, and maknae with their 1st mini-album, "Welcome to Momoland". The group, managed by MLD Entertainment, was formed after the survival show "Finding Momoland". They had a few lineup changes when new members were added in 2017 but continued to actively promote in South Korea and Japan.
In 2020, their 3rd mini-album, "Show Me", peaked at #2 on the South Korean Gaon Album Chart, and the group gained a dedicated fanbase at home and even in other countries. Unfortunately, the group's unique sound and limited discography made it difficult for them to gain mainstream recognition, and they disbanded in February 2023, a few weeks after their contracts expired.
