Kim Ki Joong is a South Korean singer, dancer and former member of UNB and IM. He graduated from Seoul Performing Arts High School focusing on Applied Music and is on a leave-of-absence in the K-Pop major at Dong-Ah Institute of Media and Arts, where he was a classmate of ZEROBASEONE's Han Bin.
He debuted in 2017 as the vocalist and maknae of IM, a group that was supposed to have 10 members, but only 4 debuted in their first sub-unit, IM66. Later that year, he entered the singing survival show "The Unit" and finished in 8th place, so he was selected to join the project group UNB which debuted in April 2018 and ended activities about a year later, around the same time, IM also disbanded and he looked for a new company to join. He moved to MBK Entertainment and was rumored to be a part of the newly formed group MBK Boys, later renamed BAE173, but it never materialized.
He took a two-year break to analyze his options, and in 2021, he reappeared as a contestant in "Extreme Debut: Wild Idol" hoping to debut in the project group TAN, which sadly, didn't happen as he finished just outside of the Top-7. He decided to enlist for his mandatory military service on December 12, 2022, and is expected to be discharged on June 11, 2024.
