Choi Si Won is a Korean pop singer and actor managed by SM Entertainment. He is a member of the boy band Super Junior and its subgroup, Super Junior-M. Choi was scouted in front of his high school at the age of 16 and asked to audition at a casting call. He secretly auditioned and only told his parents after he had passed. Although he was being trained as a solo artist, Choi debuted as part of the 12-member Super Junior in 2005 after he had already had a few minor roles in television dramas.
In addition to his music activities, Choi continued to act in films and television dramas in both Korea and in Chinese-language productions, gaining acclaim for his acting. Choi is so popular in China that he is one of only four South Korean artists to be featured on a Chinese postage stamp! He is best known for his role in the 2006 Hong Kong historical action film "A Battle of Wits" as young Prince Liang Shi.
A wax figure of his was unveiled at Madame Tussauds in Hong Kong on November 19, 2015
He enlisted as a conscripted policeman on 19 November 2015 and completed his mandatory military service on 18 August 2017. Since 2019, Choi has been the Regional Ambassador for East Asia and Pacific for UNICEF.
