Paeng Hyun Sook is a South Korean comedienne. She attended the Ceramics program at Hanyang Women's University but dropped before obtaining a bachelor's degree in Acting Arts from Catholic Kwandong University.
She made her debut in 1985 as part of the 3rd open recruitment for comedians at KBS. She was originally auditioning to be a model when comedian Choi Yang Rak saw her and tried to convince her to join "Humor #1" as she could fit the role of a beautiful woman in several comedy skits. She trained with him for over a week and went to the KBS audition and, surprisingly, she passed. After debuting, she work with Choi in many segments as a couple and ended up getting married in 1988.
She took a break from TV due to her marriage and returned in 1995 with a segment on a comedy show on SBS. In 2011, she won the Best Couple Award and the Best Entertainer Award in the Talk Show category with her husband at the SBS Entertainment Awards.
In 2018, at the KBS Entertainment Awards, she and her husband, won the Best Entertainer Award for the first time in their 34-year entertainment career. She is now semi-retired, making occasional appearances on variety shows with her husband.
