Ryeoun, Choi Hyun Wook, Seol In Ah, And Shin Eun Soo Confirmed For New Drama

Ryeoun, Choi Hyun Wook, Seol In Ah, and Shin Eun Soo will be starring in a new drama together!

On April 5, it was confirmed that the four actors will be starring in “Sparkling Watermelon” (literal title). “Sparkling Watermelon” is a fantasy coming-of-age drama in which a CODA (child of deaf adult) student born with a gift for music crash lands at an unfamiliar place after time traveling through a suspicious music shop. There, he forms the band Watermelon Sugar with other mysterious youths.

The drama will be helmed by director Son Jung Hyun of “Should We Kiss First?” and “Mental Coach Jegal” and written by scriptwriter Jin Soo Wan of “Kill Me Heal Me,” “The Moon Embracing the Sun,” and “Chicago Typewriter.”

Ryeoun will play Eun Gyeol, the only person who can hear in his deaf family. Eun Gyeol leads a double life as the perfect model student by day and a band guitarist by night. Ryeoun will impress as he portrays dual charms of a student with great passion for music beneath his calm exterior.

Choi Hyun Wook will take on the role of the passionate Lee Chan. Since Lee Chan grew up along with older college students at his grandmother’s boarding house, he is full of Generation X vibes. Lee Chan goes to great lengths to win the heart of a “goddess” from a nearby arts high school.

Seol In Ah will transform into Seowon Arts High School’s cello goddess Se Kyung, who is known as a muse to many due to her pure and elegant beauty and aura.

Shin Eun Soo will play the cold and haughty “ice princess” Chung Ah who has been deaf since birth. Chung Ah dreams of a dazzling life like Frida Kahlo.

The production team shared, “We hope that ‘Sparkling Watermelon’ will become a drama through which the past, current, and future youths can all relate to and communicate with. Please anticipate the performance of the actors who will make the characters shine even brighter.”

tvN’s “Sparkling Watermelon” will air in the second half of this year.
