“Family” has teased Jang Hyuk and Jang Nara’s comedic synergy!

tvN’s “Family” tells the story of a National Intelligence Service (NIS) black agent husband who is undercover as an ordinary office worker and a sweet but fierce wife who dreams of having a perfect family. The drama is helmed by executive producer Jang Jung Do, whose hit works include “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim,” “The Crowned Clown,” “Our Blues,” “Alchemy of Souls,” and more. In addition to being Jang Hyuk and Jang Nara’s fourth project together, “Family” is their first collaboration in nine years.

Jang Hyuk stars as Kwon Do Hoon, who outside the home is an NIS black agent disguised as a trading company employee. At home, he lives a completely different life as a low-rank husband who’s entirely devoted to his wife Kang Yu Ra. Jang Nara stars as Kwon Do Hoon’s wife Kang Yu Ra, who “ranks” highest in their family home. She’s a housekeeping expert who hides her powerful strength and works to protect the perfect family of her dreams while hiding a secret behind her lovable nature.

Typically, Kwon Do Hoon sports a cold and charismatic poker face but he is an endlessly sweet and helpless husband in front of his wife. On the contrary, Kang Yu Ra is a mighty and clever wife who makes up for her husband’s shortcomings. Stay tuned to see the pair’s chemistry as a close-knit couple fighting both in and out of the house in order to protect their family.

The production team of “Family” shared, “Jang Hyuk and Jang Nara’s filming set is quite literally a feast of improvisations. With each scene, these two turned the set into a sea of laughter with their banter and realistically improvised lines reminiscent of a real-life couple.”

They continued, “In particular, during the scene of Kwon Woong Soo’s [Lee Soon Jae‘s] 80th birthday, these two exchanged glances, and as if the reins were released, exploded with excitement and left others unable to stop laughing with their perfect chemistry. In the scene where Kang Yu Ra leaves Kwon Do Hoon on the side of the road and drives off by herself, Jang Hyuk impressed all the staff members with his passionate improvisation of hanging on to the car in order to double the comedic effect.”

The producers concluded, “For each filming, Jang Hyuk and Jang Nara created acting chemistry through just their gazes and led the set atmosphere. To the point where the staff members were all surprised, their teamwork was just as great as a real-life couple even without being arranged beforehand, so we hope you look forward to it.”
