May It Please the Court episode 9 starts with Si-baek assuring Chak-hee that he didn’t kill anyone. An annoyed and scared Chak-hee gets really angry at him for pulling such a silly joke and admonishes him for saying something so serious. After some back and forth, the two of them go off to have some food while elsewhere, Ha-ran and Gi-do bicker when she learns that he will be announcing his campaign that day.
Anyway, Gi-do calls Chak-hee and Si-baek for the announcement as well but the latter isn’t that happy to comply. Chak-hee tries her best to convince her colleague, and in the end, he promises to make an appearance. Unfortunately, Gi-do is having a rather bad time with reporters turning up for the event and Ha-ran, taking the opportunity, refuses to play house with him any further.
When she tries to leave, however, the throngs of reporters stop Ha-ran in her tracks, and she is forced to come back and make an appearance with her husband. Elsewhere, Si-baek is left rather tensed when he is unable to get a hold of Chi-sik.

As Chak-hee, too, desperately tries to get a hold of Si-baek later, we see him meeting Byung-chun and catch a glimpse of Chi-sik already inside the house. There’s an air of tension between the two men as they later make introductions, and, right on cue, Byung-chun gets killed afterwards (and apparently, the murderer is also filming it).
When Gi-do gets the news, later on, he rushes to his father’s house and is left heartbroken at the state of his father. When the butler tries to call the police, Gi-do refuses to let him and instead asks him to get his father’s body clean and change him. Gi-do caresses his father’s face, and it’s clear that the event has really shattered him. However, he makes the butler tell the police that he found Byung-chun dead in his bed.
The police come and go, and Gi-do keeps his father’s death under wraps. As Kyung-jin and Jae-geun try to figure out who could’ve committed the murders, Gi-do decides to go to sleep beside his father’s dead body. At the hospital, Jae-ho mumbles that Dong-pil is still alive.

The next morning, Chak-hee sees Si-baek coming back home in the morning. She confronts him for not going through with his promise, but Si-baek asks her to keep these discussions for another time, leaving her confused. Meanwhile, Gi-do comes home and tells Ha-ran they will go through with his father’s funeral immediately. When Chak-hee gets the news later, she is rightly left devastated.
As she goes to get Yi-yeon, she gets into a spat with her father. At the funeral, Yi-yeon gets a flashback from her childhood regarding an old woman being pushed down the stairs and seemingly dying while, much to Gi-do’s horror, the police get to his humble and rushed funeral and let him know that they have to hold off on the funeral since odd marks were found on Byung-chun’s body.
With the funeral now postponed, Chak-hee is told to go back, and Dae-hyeon learns something shocking from Gi-do. Chak-hee and Si-baek later eat together, and later on, she breaks down thinking about Byung-chun.

The next day, more bad news awaits Chak-hee as she receives a call from both her father and Duk-man that the latter was arrested for murdering Byeong-chun. However, the arrest was made without a warrant or evidence and what further makes Chak-hee more confused is when Gi-do calls her and feeds her absolute lies. Interestingly, she lies to him when he asks her what Duk-man had told her in their phone call and starts questioning the truth in his words.
That night after Si-baek drops Chak-hee off, he goes to the police station to turn himself in for the serial murders.
Well, what a confusing episode, but honestly, I am interested to know the skeletons hidden in everyone’s closet because it feels like there is so much more that we don’t know about. With three more episodes to go and Si-baek turning himself in, it seems like things are finally going towards a swift wrap-up.
