Recap Korean Drama "Doctor Lawyer (2022)" Episode 7

Doctor Lawyer (닥터 로이어) is a Korean law-drama TV series directed by Lee Yong-seok and stars So Ji-sub, Lim Soo-hyang and Shin Sung-rok, alongside other cast members. The series has 16 episodes and takes over MBC’s Friday-Saturday 10 PM KST timeslot previously occupied by Tomorrow. Doctor Lawyer episode 7 has a runtime of 60 minutes.

Doctor Lawyer episode 7 starts with how Hyuk-chul got the blade to stab Yi-han and why he was so desperate to do everything in his power to hurt him. However, when his ex appears out of the blue and asks him to stop, he finally calms down realising his son would be in greater danger otherwise.

Jung-hyun and Hyuk-chul decide whose side they should be on to save their son – that’s all that matters to them. In the end, Jung-hyun promises to talk more after Yi-han gets his license and Seok-yeong asks Yi-han how he’s going to do that and isn’t happy with the answer. She proposes to meet Jayden herself and get answers from him.

 

Meanwhile, Jin-gi asks his men to figure out what happened with Hyuk-chul because if the latter betrayed him, then he’ll have to keep his mouth shut. In the meantime, Hyun-seong is ready to propose to Yu-na, who is not happy with his cliched plan but acknowledges that it suits someone like him.

However, when Hyun-seong does propose, she says that she isn’t ready to say yes to him yet because the person she wants to marry isn’t the Director of Planning and Coordination. She asks him to be bigger than the chairman – to surpass even his father. Hyun-seong looks like he’s about to crap bricks, it’s hilarious.

As Jin-gi threatens Jung-hyun with her son, Seok-yeong and Yi-han go off to meet Jayden at the penthouse. She clears up that she doesn’t care about the drugs, but she does want to know why he roped all of them into this mess in the first place. Jayden opens up his plans to them – he wants to own as many stocks as possible of Banseok in order for it to belong to Honours Hand. Thus, if they expose Banseok to the public, it will help the stock prices fall which, in turn, will help him.

After a small Jayden monologue about revenge and how it heals emotional wounds, the three of them have a drink as a sign that they will work together to bring Banseok down. Yu-na gets there just then and despite Jayden’s protests, goes inside to quiz Seok-yeong.

Yu-na comes off as extremely cunning and the way she talks to Seok-yeong and Yi-han, and confuses Jayden as well. Anyway, in the end, she mentions that Jayden and her steer clear of each other for the time being so that she can sort out her thoughts. Meanwhile, Hyun-seong wonders why Yu-na turned down his proposal.

As Yi-han receives his medical license, Yo-sub gets harassed at work for being a witness in So-yeon’s case. Later, Yi-han gets a huge tip on Im Tae-moon and him secretly taking immunosuppressants – medicine that one has to take for the rest of their lives if they have transplant surgery. So, is he the one who took Seok-ju’s heart all those years ago?

As the bullying gets too much, Jing-gi swoops in to manipulate Yo-sub and asks him to essentially go back on his testimony and never associate with Yi-han after this so that he can get back his previous job. Meanwhile, Yu-na’s plan of prolonging the clinical trials for their new drug faces a roadblock, but she refuses to compromise and Jin-gi agrees to let her do what she wants, sure that she will have to follow his plans soon enough.

While practising Jun-hwa’s surgery, Yi-han attempts to get in touch with Yo-sub but gets no response. However, when Seok-yeong arrives, he gives up for the time being. Jung-hyun, meanwhile, is threatened by Jin-gi to not go to Yi-han for the surgery – he would, however, make it possible for her son to get a heart transplant from someone else… someone who has a chance of recovering, but he is willing to take measures against it.

It’s the day Yi-han meets Jin-gi face to face for the first time, thanks to Jayden, as Seok-yeong looks through files on Banseok from years before. Everyone in Banseok is left shocked seeing Yi-han and even more shocked when Yi-han puts Hyuk-chul’s knife on Jin-gi’s throat promising to give him back the gift that he had so thoughtfully sent for him.

Jin-gi looks rather unsurprised and tells him that he wouldn’t spill blood for the revenge he has waited years for. Yi-han agrees but then cuts his throat anyway. Everyone looks surprised, but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t fatal.

First and foremost, I want to know why Yi-han thought that leaving Yo-sub in Banseok after making him betray everyone in the hospital is a good idea. Like, did you think that Hyun-seong won’t bully him or that he’d be promoted for it? Why wouldn’t you take measures to protect the guy?

Anyway, in a thoroughly enjoyable episode with a lot going on, I am left to wonder Jayden and Yu-na’s plans. Jin-gi’s is pretty standard and you know what he’s after mostly but as I had mentioned in previous reviews, Jayden is such an enigma. And at this point, the same goes for Yu-na. I cannot put a finger on it, but she makes me so uncomfortable.

Yi-han and Seok-yeong wade through murky waters as they desperately try to figure out how to take Banseok down. But with strong contenders, I feel like they’re in too deep. But then again, Yi-han has always been prepared in the past when it comes to figuring Jin-gi’s plans out, so maybe he has something up his sleeve?
