Recap Korean Drama "Doctor Lawyer (2022)" Episode 12

Doctor Lawyer (닥터 로이어) is a Korean law-drama TV series directed by Lee Yong-seok and stars So Ji-sub, Lim Soo-hyang and Shin Sung-rok, alongside other cast members. The series has 16 episodes and takes over MBC’s Friday-Saturday 10 PM KST timeslot previously occupied by Tomorrow. Doctor Lawyer episode 12 has a runtime of 60 minutes

Doctor Lawyer episode 12 starts with the nurse fractionally telling Yi-han that Mi-seon refused to donate. Imagine his panic as he is now an organ down, and the person has their body cavity open in front of them. Getting over the initial shock, Yi-han is left shocked and realises what is going on.

Meanwhile, Seok-yeong asks Mi-seon whether she had planned this all along, and Jin-gi chimes in, reminding her that people are not obligated to donate their organs and are allowed to change their minds. 

Mi-seon asks Jin-gi whether Sun-ae will be ok with just one lung, and Jin-gi promises to keep her well till they can get another donor. At that moment, there is an emergency, and it turns out that Jin-woo’s small lung cannot keep Sun-ae alive alone. They need another lung right now to keep her alive.

Mi-seon, being the crazy woman that she is, asks Yoon-seok to give her his lung. Jin-gi tells her that he cannot give up his lung at the drop of a hat, and he needs to go through extensive examinations to come to a conclusion. An enraged Mi-seon asks Jin-gi to do something because she put on this show to get at least one lung for Sun-ae.

 

Seok-yeong tells her to do it herself because she has already been examined. Jayden chimes in that if Sun-ae dies right now, it will be her fault. Or rather, it will be because of her greed and stupidity. 

Mi-seon then forces Jin-woo to donate more of his lungs in a complicated surgery, and after a tense few minutes, the risky operation is successful – the first of its kind in Korea. Afterwards, it’s a moment of celebration for everyone, and later, Yi-han tells Jin-gi in front of Mi-seon that he will take both Jin-woo and Sun-ae to New Hope after they regain consciousness.

Yoon-jung picks up Do-hyung and Jung-hyun after the surgery and asks them the truth about Seok-ju’s surgery. Although Do-hyung refuses to divulge any secrets, Jung-hyun gives her all she needs to know.

Meanwhile, Yi-han reiterates to Tae-moon that he needs to get the surgery as soon as possible so that he literally does not die. However, they decide to do it after the presidential election, but surprisingly, he asks Yi-han to put Hyun-seong’s name in case his secret surgery reaches the public in any way.

Yi-han and Yu-na are left shocked, and the former asks Tae-moon about ending things with Jin-gi, but he says that there are some relationships that can’t just end that easily.

Meanwhile, Hee-kyung and Chief Park find some shocking connections between the most unlikely of characters as they look into Mi-seon’s life. The real confusion, however, comes when they find Kang-ho meeting Gong Guk-kwang – something they realise they probably were not supposed to witness.

On the other hand, getting kicked around by everyone around him, Hyun-seong asks his assistant to install a camera in the penthouse elevator and asks him to collect all the trash that comes from the penthouse, especially things like hair and other things where drugs can be detected.

Yu-na and Jayden celebrate their victory and her not being anyone’s wife, but he lets her know that he will be moving to the States after he gets Banseok. But promises to propose to her with the Banseok R&D Centre afterwards.

Meanwhile, Seok-yeong learns what her colleagues go to know about Yoon-seok and Guk-kwang and the latter’s connection with Kang-ho. However, unlike last time, she chooses to take a humanistic approach while arresting Yoon-seok, in order to stop him from trying to end his life like last time. Just then, Yi-han approaches him to have a chat.

As the presidential debate starts between Tae-moon and Mi-seon. The latter immediately goes for Yu-na and asks him whether she got the director seat thanks to nepotism. He meets the question head-on and, honestly, gives a good answer that only dads can probably give.

When it comes time for him to ask the question, he immediately goes for the jugular and shows everyone the pictures of Yoon-seok the other day with Guk-kwang. The debate ends uninterestingly, but Mi-seon later asks Yoon-seok to be more careful because she doesn’t want to lose him as well.

 

Later, Jayden gambles with Do-hyung with some impressive bets – he wins big as well, leaving Do-hyung speechless. Later, he gives the entire winning to Do-hyung in order to buy his ‘tongue’. Meanwhile, Yi-han tells Yu-na that he will not operate on Tae-moon under the conditions which the latter has put forth. He asks her whether there is something they are hiding from him that is making him take Jin-gi’s side, and without many options, she agrees to tell him everything.

On the other hand, Jin-gi asks Tae-moon to tell his party friends to protect the former in his hearing in a few days. Furthermore, Tae-moon must become the president if he wants all of them to stay safe in the future. Meanwhile, Yi-han learns that he couldn’t have operated on Tae-moon 5 years ago, and thus, he didn’t receive Seok-ju’s heart.

The truth about Tae-moon, is, however, deeper. Tae-moon has Alzheimer’s, and only Yu-na and Jin-gi know this. Yu-na, being the absolute boss that she is, promises to take care of the mess because she doesn’t want anyone else to mess with her father.

While going back home, Yi-han receives a call from Yoon-seok, who asks him to meet him at an address. They had previously talked about Yi-han saving him as many times as it takes since that is his duty as a doctor.

As he checks out the address, he wonders whether it’s a trap and realises that he is being followed. A tight chase sequence later, Yi-han goes to meet Yoon-seok at said address and finds him lying on the ground unconscious and with an open gas pipe. He carries him outside and saves him just in the nick of time.

 

Unfortunately, however, he gets bonked on the head by someone and is left unconscious on the ground.

There are people that you can hate, and there is Mi-seon who is just so vile that you just want her to lose everything. Doctor Lawyer episode 12 is tense and taut, with a lot of things getting twisted here and there.

Regardless of that cliffhanger at the end, the episode’s entire runtime has something or the other thrilling taking place and so many avenues for the story to go down. 

But, the biggest question is – who got Seok-ju’s heart? I have a sinking suspicion it’s Jayden, for some odd reason, and I really don’t want it to be true. Or, it might just be someone completely out of the left field. Either way, Doctor Lawyer has created an infectious storyline, and I am sitting here with bated breath wondering what could be the answer to all this.
