Recap Korean Drama "Doctor Lawyer (2022)" Episode 11

Doctor Lawyer (닥터 로이어) is a Korean law-drama TV series directed by Lee Yong-seok and stars So Ji-sub, Lim Soo-hyang and Shin Sung-rok, alongside other cast members. The series has 16 episodes and takes over MBC’s Friday-Saturday 10 PM KST timeslot previously occupied by Tomorrow. Doctor Lawyer episode 11 has a runtime of 61 minutes.

Yi-han, Seok-yeong and Jin-woo get ready to file their marriage license, and a sneaky Jayden lets them know that Mi-seon is on her way to the hospital. The episode gives the background of the last episode’s little coup, and Yi-han makes it a point to go to see Sun-ae with the entire entourage. Meanwhile, Jayden lets Yu-na know that things are going according to their plan, but she doesn’t seem very convinced.

Tae-moon has a chat with Jin-gi about operating on his using a ghost doctor, but Jin-gi lets him know his place and that he has the upper hand over him. He later asks Do-hyung to sedate Sun-ae even more than she is already, and although Do-hyung expresses concern, he goes off to do as he’s told.

Meanwhile, Hyun-seong lets Yu-na know that he’s about to be Banseok’s youngest director. As Yi-han and everyone else goes down to see Sun-ae, Yi-han remembers the night he came to the VIP area to find whom he had operated on 5 years ago.

Anyway, checking on Sun-ae and getting gaslighted by Jin-gi, Yi-han realises that Sun-ae isn’t in a coma and that Banseok has heavily sedated her in order to keep her here. However, Mi-seon is taken aback when Yi-han lets everyone know that Sun-ae can die from the high amount of sedatives that are being fed to her.

Meanwhile, Jayden and Yu-na spend a night of passion after she tells him that she ended things with Hyun-seong. On the other hand, as Sun-ae wakes up, Yi-han and Jin-woo are faced with another problem – she needs an organ donor, and she needs them fast. And apart from Jin-woo, they need another person.

On the other hand, Seok-yeong grills the jail doctor who gave Hyuk-chul the blade and Yi-han swoops in to offer him his services to get him on his side. From him, he gets to know Ki-tae’s last words – “Garden, USB”. The gang wonders what to do about this information because no one knows what the garden is.

Meanwhile, Ji-woo and Yi-han go to meet Mi-seon in order to convince her to give Sun-ae her lung. However, the latter tells him that the only way she will agree to it is if he agrees to an annulment and goes away from Sun-ae’s life. Ji-woo agrees to her condition so that Sun-ae can get better… although it means pushing his weak wife toward her abuser. But sure.

As the day for choosing Banseok’s director rolls around, a bevvy of people rolls into the hospital looking dapper as heck. Jin-gi steps down as planned and nominates Hyun-seong, much to everyone’s chagrin. Just as the board members are about to vote, Jayden steps in with something to say. On the other hand, Yi-han desperately searches for the garden – which might just be a person.

Back at the meeting, Jayden brings up the deal that they had struck up, annoying everyone on the board. Yu-na, then, goes up to talk about the new medicine that they are trying to come up with, on which the entire stock of Banseok is dependent. Yi-han, meanwhile, rushes to meet “Garden” in order to get the answers that she needs.

At the board meeting, Jayden’s words move the entire board, who start to wonder whether they should really let Banseok go to Honours Hand. Just as this is going down, Seok-yeong comes to Banseok to get to the bottom of things. Meanwhile, Yi-han finally meets Jeong-won to get the USB and some answers.

Seok-yeong goes right up into the meeting to deliver a subpoena to Hyun-seong and Do-hyeon, completely ruining his chances of becoming the director. Hyun-seong doesn’t get appointed as the Director at the end of a vote, and there’s an air of celebration in the room. Except for Hyun-seong who figures out that Yu-na and Jayden are colluding with each other.

That night, Hyun-seong has the first moment of showing a spine as he screams at his father for ruining his life and constantly making him feel small. On the other hand, Yi-han listens to Ki-tae’s secret recording.

It’s time to perform double lung transplantation, and everyone tries to forget what happened in the last few days to do a successful transplant. Considering there are three lives at risk, everyone has to really work together to save everyone. After a thrilling first half where Yi-han successfully transplants Jin-woo’s lung, it is revealed that Mi-seon refused to donate her lung.

As everyone in the operating room wonders what to do, with Jayden and Seok-yeong looking shocked, Yi-han realises that Jin-gi brought him here to fail from the first minute.

So, what is Jin-woo’s plan here? He will make his wife all better and then just hand her over to her abusive mother so that she can extend her arms and cut her ears to make her look perfect? What is the point of going through so much hassle if you’re just going to sign her up for a life of misery, more so when she cannot consent to this? I don’t understand it, but then again, I don’t understand a lot of decisions that these people make.

Anyway, this is a thrilling episode with a lot to say. A lot of things come to light, difficult decisions are made, and most importantly, Hyun-seong stands up to his father. Of course, time will tell how far he will go with his newfound bravery, but regardless, it’s good to see.

On the other hand, Seok-yeong continues to disappoint with her dull character, who only runs around without much passion about anything. At least Yu-na and Jayden are giving us some major slyness and evilness to enjoy!

Coming to Yi-han, I am still waiting to see him really be authoritative with the decisions that he takes such that he can land the landing in the end. Every time he comes up with some plan, something or the other goes wrong, and he’s back to square one. I hope to see at least one of his plans work. Imagine, at the end of 16 episodes, Jin-gi gets it all. Sounds absolutely horrible.

Anyway, a good episode that will make you sit at the edge of your seat for the most part – Doctor Lawyer episode 11 is infectious more so because Jayden and Jin-gi are delightful to watch.
