Mar 15, 2019
The police have taken measures to protect actress Yoon Ji Oh, the former colleague of the late Jang Ja Hyun.
Yoon Ji Oh previously had informed the public that she is staying at a safe house provided by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, but that her personal protection had not yet come about. Min Gap Ryong, the Commissioner General of the Korean National Police Agency, recently stated that the actress had requested for personal protection and police officers have started operating a personal protection watch system for her. Starting from March 14 at 2:30 p.m. KST, Yoon Ji Oh has been receiving personal protection from the police.
In August of 2018, a national petition asking for the actress’s protection was posted on the homepage for government petitions. Petitions require 200,000 participants within 30 days of its creation in order for a government official to be required to give an official reply within a month, but the petition for the actress’s protection reached nearly 300,000 participants. On March 13 through her social media, Yoon Ji Oh thanked everyone for their interest and support which led to the personal protection services.
Currently, the Jang Ja Hyun case is being reinvestigated by the prosecution in the Past Affairs Commission, which will continue their investigations until the 31st of this month. Yoon Ji Oh also recently participated in a witness interview at the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office.
