A local media outlet reported that singer-actor Park Yu-chun invited police officials to his home while he was under investigation for a sexual assault allegation in 2016
Singer-actor Park Yu-chun invited police officials to his home for a meal and a drink in 2016 when he was under Seoul Gangnam Police's investigation for allegedly sexually assaulting four women in a bathroom, a local report said Monday.
Citing an unnamed police official, Nocut News reported that a rumor surrounding Park ― that he called some police officials through his manager ― has been circulating.
It has not been specified whether the invitees were involved in Park's investigation," the official was quoted as saying. "The rumor is currently being checked out."
Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency has been investigating the case, police said Tuesday.
Park, 33, was cleared of the sexual assault allegations in 2016.
Park, also known as Micky Yuchun, debuted as part of quintet TVXQ in 2004 with the single album "Hug." The group was catapulted to fame with hit songs including "Rising Sun" and "Mirotic," but three members ― Park Yu-chun, Kim Jae-joong and Kim Jun-su ― left in 2010 after a legal dispute with agency SM Entertainment. The trio reformed as JYJ.
Park left JYJ after being embroiled in a drug scandal this year. The Suwon District Court sentenced him to a 10-month jail term, suspended for two years, and fined him 1.4 million won ($1,200) for buying and taking methamphetamine.
