Ku Hye-sun, left, claims her husband Ahn Jae-hyun, center, had an affair with Oh Yeon-seo, who denied the allegation and threatened to sue Ku for defamation |
Actress Oh Yeon-seo has denied a rumor that she is having an affair with actor Ahn Jae-hyeon, the estranged husband of Ku Hye-sun, threatening legal action against "the rumormonger" for spreading the "baseless allegation."
Her reaction came hours after Ku uploaded a post on Instagram saying she was considering divorce after hearing her husband was having relations with an unspecified actress he has been working with on a forthcoming TV series.
Oh and Ahn are currently shooting the drama, tentatively titled "Flawed People," which will premiere on MBC in November.
In a statement from her agency Wednesday, Oh said the allegation raised by Ku was baseless.
"What Ku wrote about her husband's alleged relationship with the actress is not based on fact," the statement read. "It's false information and what she did constitutes defamation. We will take legal action against Ku for spreading false information and defamation."
Oh's denial and threat of legal action against Ku came as the latter claimed she was upset by her husband's alleged extramarital relationship with the actress.
"The reason why I decided to break up with my husband is because he is in an extramarital relationship with an actress," she wrote on Instagram.
"I've heard numerous times that my husband is in love with the actress he is currently working with for a TV series, so I was upset and confused. I was not sure whether I should trust him or not."
Ku raised the fresh allegation amid a series of shocking revelations about her husband after the two agreed on divorce.
The Ahn-Ku blame game took a surprising turn recently after digital forensic examination results of Ahn's mobile phone were leaked to the press.
Local media outlet Dispatch disclosed two years of text message exchanges between Ku and Ahn, showing that Ku has constantly been changing her mind about divorce while her husband has demanded it consistently.
Ku's social media post about Oh came shortly after the media report.
Ku began posting about her marital troubles on Instagram Aug. 18, saying "Ahn wants to get divorce, but I want to save our marriage."
The post has since been deleted. Ku, however, continued to criticize her husband, claiming he was responsible for their marriage difficulties. She complained that Ahn and the CEO of HB Entertainment spoke badly about her in her absence.
Ku also posted several screenshots of Ahn's messages showing he refused to talk to her mother to get her to approve the divorce. Ahn has stated that the marriage is over, saying the divorce was settled upon and he had already provided settlement money to Ku. He also claimed he has been struggling with depression.
He has remained silent since his last post. Ku announced her temporary retirement from show business and said she wants to focus on continuing her undergraduate studies at Sungkyunkwan University School of Arts.
Ku and Ahn met when filming the KBS2 drama "Blood," and they married in May 2016. In 2017, they appeared on the tvN reality show "Newlyweds Diary."
