Feminist flick "Kim Ji Young, Born in 1982," based on the best-selling novel of the same title, will hit theaters in October, reports said Wednesday.
The movie, starring Jung Yu-mi and Gong Yoo, tells the story of Korean woman Kim Ji Young, who is suddenly possessed by spirits after facing discrimination because of her gender.
Kim, played by Jung, is a "typical" woman who opts to stay silent instead of fighting against sexism.
Gong Yoo plays Kim's husband, Jung Dae-hyun. He strives to understand his wife and share her concerns.
Filming was reportedly wrapped up in April.
The novel, released in 2016, sold more than a million copies in Korea and its translation became a best-seller in China and Japan. It will also be made into a documentary, revealing women in three countries' experience of sexism
