Moon Chae Won’s agency has remarked on the status of the actress’s participation in the 2023 SBS Drama Awards.
On December 8, reports surfaced regarding speculations on Moon Chae Won’s absence at this year’s SBS Drama Awards following her “Payback” co-star Lee Sun Gyun’s recent drug-related controversy.
In response to the reports, a source from Moon Chae Won’s agency IOK Company shared, “It is true that she received an offer to participate in the 2023 SBS Drama Awards. However, we did not decide whether or not she will be attending, and we arranged to discuss [the matter] later. We have not received contact [from SBS] since.”
A source from SBS clarified, “The attendance of all actors including Moon Chae Won is continuously being checked and discussed, so no decision has been made yet.”
Earlier this year in January, Moon Chae Won starred in the SBS drama “Payback” along with Lee Sun Gyun, who is currently being investigated for drug-related accusations. “Payback” recorded a personal best in viewership rating of 11.3 percent, making it the drama to have garnered the third highest personal best in ratings among SBS dramas in 2023 following “Taxi Driver 2” and “Dr. Romantic 3.”
The 2023 SBS Drama Awards will take place on December 29. Previously, it was confirmed that Shin Dong Yup and Kim Yoo Jung will be reuniting as the hosts for this year’s SBS Drama Awards.
