Discussions are taking place upon the upcoming expiration of MAMAMOO’s Hwasa’s contract period with RBW.
On May 23, JTBC reported that Hwasa’s contract with RBW will expire at the end of June and that she’s considering various possibilities, including staying with RBW or moving to another agency.
In response to the report, a representative from RBW briefly commented, “There is still time left on Hwasa’s current contract. We are currently conducting MAMAMOO’s world tour in the United States and we’re still discussing the contract renewal [with Hwasa].”
After debuting in June 2014, three members of MAMAMOO renewed their contracts with RBW in 2021. (Solar and Moonbyul renewed their contracts in January, while Hwasa renewed hers in March.) In June, RBW announced that Wheein decided not to renew her contract with the agency, but had signed an extended agreement to participate with MAMAMOO in some group activities, including albums and concerts, until December 2023.
MAMAMOO recently began the U.S. leg of their first world tour “MY CON.” Currently, Hwasa is gearing up for her upcoming tvN variety show “Dancing Queens On The Road” with Kim Wan Sun, Uhm Jung Hwa, Lee Hyori, and BoA. The show will premiere on May 25 at 10:30 p.m. KST.
