Lee Do Hyun and Im Soo Jung dished on working together for tvN’s upcoming drama “Melancholia”!
Set in a private school that is rife with corruption, “Melancholia” is a drama about a passionate math teacher named Ji Yoon Soo (played by Im Soo Jung) and a former math prodigy named Baek Seung Yoo (played by Lee Do Hyun), who has lost both his love of math and his way in life due to a past trauma.
Describing her experience working with Lee Do Hyun, Im Soo Jung spoke highly of his talent as an actor and their chemistry as co-stars.
“This drama was my first time working together with Lee Do Hyun,” said the actress. “Because I had always thought of him as a talented actor from a very long time ago, I was really looking forward to working with him, and our teamwork is even better than I had hoped.”
She went on, “Although he’s my junior in acting, I think Lee Do Hyun is an actor whose depth of emotion and acting skills transcend his age, as well as time and space. So I think we’ll be able to show you great chemistry as Ji Yoon Soo and Baek Seung Yoo.”
Meanwhile, Lee Do Hyun remarked, “When I film a scene together with Im Soo Jung, we always talk about the scene beforehand, and that time [we spend discussing the scene] is always one of the happiest times for me.”
“From pondering what we can do to better convey the emotions of our characters to searching for the reasons behind each and every one of our characters’ words and actions,” he continued, “I’m always happy and filled with nothing but gratitude for all of these steps we take just to create one scene.”
“Melancholia” premieres on November 3 at 10:30 p.m. KST and will be available with subtitles on DramaCool.
