Kim Tae Hee’s Agency Denies Allegations Of Tax Evasion + Provides Clarifications Regarding Audit

Kim Tae Hee’s agency has spoken up about the tax evasion allegations made against the actress.

Earlier on March 1, a media outlet reported that the National Tax Service conducted an irregular (special) tax audit on Kim Tae Hee and her former agency Lua Entertainment in 2021 and that they were fined hundreds of millions of won (hundreds of thousands of dollars) in additional taxes.

In response to the report, Kim Tae Hee’s current agency Story J Company released a statement denying that the actress had engaged in tax evasion and explained the situation regarding the additional taxes that Kim Tae Hee had indeed paid.

"Hello, this is Kim Tae Hee’s agency, Story J Company.

We would like to make clarifications regarding Kim Tae Hee’s tax-related matters.

Throughout the years, Kim Tae Hee has sincerely and faithfully paid taxes in accordance with the law.

The situation in question was due to a delay in an advertisement model fee to be paid by the client around the time Kim Tae Hee’s contract with her former agency (Lua Entertainment) expired. Since it was an advertisement model contract, the fee was deposited to her former agency. Following the expiration of her contract with the agency, the fee was then deposited to Kim Tae Hee’s personal account.

The former agency as well as Kim Tae Hee had reported and paid their income taxes honestly. However, her former company expressed their opinion that it should be viewed as Kim Tae Hee’s individual income, not as the former agency’s business income, which was why Kim Tae Hee had paid additional taxes.

We would like to state that [Kim Tae Hee] has not done anything shameful regarding this and the additional fee collected was only because she had faithfully paid the additional taxes that occurred."
