“Wonderful World” is an emotional thriller about Eun Soo Hyun (Kim Nam Joo), a woman who seeks revenge after the tragic loss of her son. When the culprit manages to evade punishment through the legal system, she decides to pursue justice on her own. The drama will be helmed by Lee Seung Young, the director of “Tracer,” “Voice 2,” and “The Missing.”
In addition to director Lee Seung Young and writer Kim Ji Eun, cast members Kim Nam Joo, Cha Eun Woo, Kim Kang Woo, Im Se Mi, Park Hyuk Kwon, Gil Hae Yeon, Cha Soo Yeon, Oh Man Seok, Jin Geon Woo, Yang Hye Ji, and more were present at the script reading.
Kim Nam Joo, reflecting on her decision to join the drama, shared, “As a mother raising two children, the profound maternal love deeply resonated with me.” Cha Eun Woo expressed, “The drama offers a myriad of heartwarming emotions as individuals with similar pain find healing in each other.”
Despite it being their first meeting, the cast exhibited remarkable synergy, immersing themselves in the powerful dialogues that unveil the intricate emotions of characters grappling with different sorrows.
Kim Nam Joo stars as Eun Soo Hyun, a renowned psychology professor and writer whose happy life in a perfect family takes a drastic turn following the tragic loss of her young son. During the script reading, she masterfully portrayed a spectrum of emotions, seamlessly transitioning between the motherly warmth Eun Soo Hyun exudes when she’s with her husband Kang Soo Ho and son Kang Geon Woo, and the explosive emotions triggered after her son’s tragedy.
Cha Eun Woo takes on the role of Kwon Sun Yool, a young man born into an affluent family who opts to drop out of medical school and leads a rough life afterward until he unexpectedly becomes entangled with Eun Soo Hyun. Despite Kwon Sun Yool’s outward cold demeanor, Cha Eun Woo skillfully unveils the warmth within through nuanced expressions and dialogue. His portrayal promises a rough and carefree charm, raising expectations for his unprecedented performance in the drama.
Kim Kang Woo takes on the role of Kang Soo Ho, a former journalist turned successful anchorman, whose life takes an unexpected turn following the tragic loss of his son. Skillfully depicting the transformation of his character’s demeanor, Kim Kang Woo portrays a man initially characterized by a strong sense of justice, only to evolve over time as his family falls apart after an unforeseen crisis.
Im Se Mi portrays Han Yoo Ri, the CEO of a boutique shop who is like a real sister to Eun Soo Hyun. With a deep regard for the lives of both Eun Soo Hyun and Eun Soo Hyun’s mother, Han Yoo Ri will bring forth delightful and heartwarming chemistry in her sister-like relationship with Eun Soo Hyun throughout the drama.
“Wonderful World” is set to premiere on March 1 at 9:50 p.m. KST.
