Kim Hyun Joo is considering a new drama!
On April 3, a source from the drama industry stated that Kim Hyun Joo is confirmed for the female lead role in OCN’s upcoming Saturday-Sunday drama “Watcher,” which is set to premiere in July.
In response, Kim Hyun Joo’s agency YNK Entertainment clarified, “[Kim Hyun Joo] received an offer to star in OCN’s new drama ‘Watcher’ and is positively reviewing the offer.”
“Watcher” is a thriller drama that will tell the story of three people whose lives are destroyed following a tragic incident, and they become a team to uncover corruption of the police and discover the truth behind powerful people. It is written by Han Sang Woon of “The Good Wife” and directed by Ahn Gil Ho of “Memories of the Alhambra.”
According to the source, Kim Hyun Joo will reportedly take on the role of the lawyer Han Tae Joo. She was once an elite prosecutor, but after being greatly injured by a thief who broke into her house, she resigned and went abroad. After she returns to Korea, she opens up a law firm, through which she defends rich criminals with a purpose of secretly turning them against each other.
If Kim Hyun Joo confirms, the actress will be making her first drama return in a year and six months since “The Miracle We Met.”
Previously, it was announced that Han Suk Kyu and Seo Kang Joon are in talks for the drama. Han Suk Kyu has been offered the role of Do Chi Kwang, the chief of a team that investigates corruption at the Korean National Police Agency, and Seo Kang Joon is in talks for the role of doubtful and cynical police officer Kim Young Goon.
