MBC’s upcoming Friday-Saturday drama “Bitter Sweet Hell” has released new stills!
“Bitter Sweet Hell” is a black comedy starring Kim Hee Sun as Noh Young Won, the top family psychiatrist in all of Korea. When an anonymous blackmailer puts her career and family at risk, Noh Young Won teams up with her mother-in-law Hong Sa Gang (Lee Hye Young), a mystery novelist, to protect their family.
Noh Young Won’s family is rounded out by her husband, Choi Jae Jin (Kim Nam Hee), a renowned plastic and reconstructive surgeon; Choi Go Myun (Kwon Hae Hyo), a former prosecutor and Noh Young Won’s father-in-law; and Choi Do Hyun (Jaechan), the exemplary son of Noh Young Won and Choi Jae Jin.
In the newly released stills, the entire family is gathered around the dining table for a meal. While Choi Go Myun leads the conversation with a stern demeanor, Noh Young Won, Choi Jae Jin, and Choi Do Hyun burst into laughter, but Hong Sa Gang stands out by revealing her discomfort, drawing attention with her serious expression, devoid of a smile.
In the cheerful family setting, Noh Young Won is the only one who notices her mother-in-law’s chilly vibe, sparking curiosity about what’s behind Hong Sa Gang’s mood and what could disrupt this “ideal” family.
According to the drama’s production team, the actors brought warmth and genuine chemistry to the breakfast scene by bonding just like a real family. With friendly greetings and casual chats, the actors created a cozy atmosphere, seamlessly transitioning from their rehearsal into natural performances.
The production team stated, “im Hee Sun, Lee Hye Young, Kim Nam Hee, Kwon Hae Hyo, and Jaechan are perfectly capturing the dynamic of a harmonious family, elevating the immersive quality of ‘Bitter Sweet Hell’ to its peak. The actors’ realistic performances craft a flawless family and also hint at future plot twists. Please look forward to the suspenseful premiere of ‘Bitter Sweet Hell.'”
“Bitter Sweet Hell” premieres on May 24 at 9:50 p.m. KST and will be available on Dramacool.
