Jun So Min Says She Took The Role In “Show Window: The Queen’s House” To Shake Up Her Image

Nov 29, 2021

On November 29, Channel A’s new drama, “Show Window: The Queen’s House,” held an online press conference with Song Yoon Ah, Lee Sung Jae, Jun So Min, 2PM’s Chansung, and director Kang Sol.

“Show Window: The Queen’s House” is a drama about a woman who supports another woman’s affair—without knowing that the affair is with her own husband. Song Yoon Ah stars as Han Sun Joo, the queen of her picture-perfect family, and Lee Sung Jae co-stars as Shin Myung Seob, her seemingly devoted husband. Jun So Min stars as Yoon Mi Ra, who becomes friends with Han Sun Joo while secretly having an affair with her husband behind her back.

In the press conference, the actors were asked why they had chosen this particular project. Song Yoon Ah said, “Whenever actors do a project, we have to be chosen, and we’re told about the reasons why we were chosen. This project came to me just when I was looking for something new, and I felt attracted to it despite myself. I was so curious about what happened next. When I met the director, I knew that I’d be able to have faith in him and have fun filming with him.”

She added, “I was really excited and happy to hear that Lee Sung Jae had been cast. We were in a drama called ‘Beyond the Horizon’ together in 1997. Both of us were rookie actors back then. We could barely speak to each other, we felt intimidated by our surroundings, and we comforted each other about our disappointments. It was welcome to be able to work with him after so many years had passed since then.”

Lee Sung Jae said, “This is the first time that I’ve worked with an actress for the second time. I really made up my mind to appear in the drama after hearing that Song Yoon Ah had been cast. I really wanted to see her again and work with her again. We’re husband and wife in this one, but I think that if we worked together again, I’d like to be not lovers or a married couple but sister and brother.”

Jun So Min, who makes a complete transformation in this drama as the secret lover of a married man, said, “I like the contrast between the role and my variety show image. I think that these contrasts help you grow and widen your spectrum. I wanted to shock people and make them feel something new. I think that if the public sees the contrast and are shocked, I’ll feel a sense of accomplishment. I wanted to show an extreme contrast.”

About working with Lee Sung Jae, she said, “Our first scene together was a physically intimate scene. He’s such a high-up senior that I was nervous and went to set without having slept much the previous night. But on set, it didn’t feel like we were meeting for the first time.” Lee Sung Jae added, “Since our first scene was an intimate one, it made us feel more comfortable around each other and our acting matched up well. It’s like getting a scolding over and done with quickly.”

About the “womance” between her and Jun So Min’s characters, Song Yoon Ah said, “I like it when people say that I look good with a certain actress, more than if they say it with an actor. There’s not that much difference in age between So Min and me. But when we’re on set together and talking, I feel like I’m still immature and young compared to her. She’s a very deep and thoughtful person. She’s the type that you want to get to know more deeply with every passing day.”

Jun So Min said, “I don’t feel an age gap with her at all. It’s really comfortable and fun on set to film with her. She’s such a refreshing person. She has an aura of elegance, but she also has charisma within that. I think that’s why people always cheer on her ‘womances.'”

2PM’s Chansung plays Han Sun Joo’s younger brother, Han Jung Won. Chansung said about Song Yoon Ah, “She’s very caring and I received a lot of warm energy from her. It was like that from our very first meeting. It was to the point that I wished she was really my older sister.”
