JTBC Denies Ties With Suspicions Of Jung Joon Young Soliciting Prostitution While Filming “Hitmaker”
Mar 29, 2019
Following suspicions of Jung Joon Young soliciting prostitution abroad while filming the 2016 variety show “Hitmaker,” JTBC denied the network’s involvement.
On March 28, MBC’s “Newsdesk” reported about another chatroom with Jung Joon Young, which was full of messages that disparaged women, and even included discussion of the possibility of using illegally filmed video footage as blackmail. The report also included newly identified participants referred to as “singer K,” “singer J,” and “model L.”
Following the reports, suspicions arose that the newly identified participants are the cast members of JTBC’s “Hitmaker.” In addition, the suspicions circled back to a report released by KBS on March 15, which revealed a conversation exchanged between Jung Joon Young and CNBLUE’s Lee Jong Hyun in April 2016. In the conversation, Jung Joon Young talked about meeting prostitutes in Berlin around the same time that “Hitmaker” was being filmed.
A source from JTBC said, “‘Hitmaker’ was created by an outsourced production company, and JTBC did not participate in production at all. JTBC only added it to the program schedule and aired it.”
The source continued, “Because the program aired three years ago, everyone who was in charge of it at the time has transferred to different companies. It will also be difficult to find related documents about the outsourced production company and their production team.”
The source also revealed that JTBC canceled VOD streaming services for “Hitmaker.”
