On April 3 a news outlet reported that Jang Dong Yoon is in talks to take on the role of Jeon Nok Doo, a man who dreams of becoming Joseon dynasty’s greatest general, for KBS2’s upcoming Monday-Tuesday drama “Mung Bean Chronicle.”
A source of Jang Dong Yoon stated, “We had a meeting with the producers of ‘Mung Bean Chronicle.’ His appearance is not confirmed yet.”
“Mung Bean Chronicle” is a romantic comedy based on the webtoon of the same name and tells the story of Jeon Nok Doo, a young man who doesn’t want to get married and disguises himself as a woman to infiltrate a mysterious women-only community, and a young woman named Dong Dong Joo, who does not want to become a gisaeng. Kim So Hyun has already been confirmed to take on the role of Dong Dong Joo.
Jeon Nok Doo is a character that was born with everything including looks, brains, and physical strength, but he has to live while hiding these traits. After twists and turns of events, he ends up entering a women-only community. Jang Dong Yoon, who dressed up as a female in his last project KBS2’s “Just Dance,” will be doing so again in “Joseon Dynasty” style.
“Mung Bean Chronicle” will be a meaningful project for Jang Dong Yoon as it will be his first project after parting ways with Clover Company. After graduating from the department of economics and finance at Hanyang University, he gained spotlight for winning the model citizen award after catching a convenience store robber in 2015. After receiving a love call from Clover Company, he made his debut in 2016 with the web drama “Women at a Game Company.” Later, he became known to the public for starring in various works including dramas “Solomon’s Perjury,” “School 2017,” “To Whom Has Lost Poetry,” “Mr. Sunshine,” “Just Dance,” and film “Beautiful Days.” When his exclusive contract with Clover Company expired last December, he decided to work on his own with the same manager he has been working with.
The upcoming drama “Mung Bean Chronicle” is expected to air in September.
