Im Soo Hyang’s Best And Most Memorable Lines So Far In “Kokdu: Season Of Deity”

Im Soo Hyang has chosen her favorite lines in “Kokdu: Season of Deity”!

MBC’s “Kokdu: Season of Deity” is a fantasy romance drama starring Kim Jung Hyun as Kokdu, a grim reaper who leaves the underworld every 99 years to punish humans in the mortal realm. During his latest trip, he winds up meeting Han Gye Jeol, a female doctor who has the mysterious ability to order him around (Im Soo Hyang).

As Han Gye Jeol continues to captivate viewers each week, here are three of her best lines!

“There is no such thing as forgotten time.”

Han Gye Jeol recently left viewer hearts’ fluttering when she chose one person between the grim reaper and the elite doctor, despite them looking exactly the same. Since she waited hopelessly for Do Jin Woo (Kim Jung Hyun) to return, she was deeply disappointed by his attitude. In addition to pushing Han Gye Jeol away, Do Jin Woo kept seeking out his ex-girlfriend Tae Jung Won (Kim Dasom). Believing that Jin Woo’s memories had gone back to before his accident, Han Gye Jeol was unable to hide her sadness that he had likely forgotten about all their moments together.

After looking upon Jin Woo for a long time with a bittersweet expression, Han Gye Jeol stated, “There is no such thing as forgotten time.” Reminiscing on her memories with Kokdu, she added, “Even within the time we are pretending did not exist, there were people, feelings, and promises.” Im Soo Hyang’s immersion, expression, and soft tone in this scene allowed viewers to focus on her character’s feelings and bring out their support for her.

“So what if you’re ugly. They say ugly people find it fun to just look at each other’s faces.”

After falling into Kokdu’s trap, Gye Jeol ended up living with him. The full story was that Han Gye Jeol saw how exasperated Kokdu and Ok Shin (Kim In Kwon) were and assumed that Kokdu was having a hard time, leading her to quickly go find him. After rushing to the hospital, Han Gye Jeol unexpected heard Kokdu tell her to always be by his side. The sudden words left Han Gye Jeol unable to respond and made Kokdu anxiously ask, “Do you not like me because I’m ugly?”

Gye Jeol’s honestly answered, “Not like you? I’m uglier.” She explained, “I knew I’d meet an ugly duckling like me but it turns out you’re a swan, not a duck. That’s why I thought you’d fly far away, but since you’re saying you’ll stay by my side as a duckling, I feel rather relieved.” Continuing to comfort Kokdu, Gye Jeol added with a bright smile, “So what if you’re ugly. They say ugly people find it fun to just look at each other’s faces.”

“If you’re going to catch an innocent person, bring evidence.”

When Han Gye Jeol introduced Kokdu to her younger brother brother Han Chul (Ahn Woo Yeon), there was an immediate sense of tension as the two had formerly met as detective and suspect. However, Han Chul had actually met Jin Woo and mistook Kokdu for him, creating an awkward situation. Although the wildly defensive Han Gye Jeol had to be dragged out by Han Chul, she did not give up her trust in Kokdu.

Given Han Chul’s consistent disapproval of her relationship, Gye Jeol decided to be equally as cold. Even when Han Chul presented his sister with an article featuring a photo of Kokdu, Han Gye Jeol firmly stated, “I trust this person. So if you’re going to catch an innocent person, bring evidence.” As Han Gye Jeol is usually such a lovable character, this new charismatic side captures her alternate personality and shows just how much love she has for Kokdu.
