Im Soo Hyang and Ji Hyun Woo talk about their characters in KBS2’s upcoming Saturday-Sunday drama “Beauty and Mr. Romantic”!

“Beauty and Mr. Romantic” will tell the love story of an actress who hits rock bottom overnight and a producing director (PD) who gets her back on her feet out of love. Im Soo Hyang plays top actress Park Do Ra who overcame many hardships to build her filmography ever since she was young while Ji Hyun Woo takes on the role of PD Go Pil Seung who harbors ambitious dreams of success.

In explaining her choice to join the drama, Im Soo Hyang revealed, “It was an opportunity to collaborate with writer Kim Sa Kyung once more, whom I previously worked with on ‘Blow Breeze,’ so I readily accepted.”

Similarly, Ji Hyun Woo, who had also worked with writer Kim Sa Kyung in “Young Lady and Gentleman” in 2021, expressed, “I wanted to work with writer Kim Sa Kyung again and felt that the characters in the script were vividly alive. It’s always a blessing for an actor to receive another offer from a writer or director [with whom they’ve previously collaborated].”

Describing her character Park Do Ra as someone who is “self assured doesn’t get easily intimated, straightforward yet endearingly warm on the inside,” Im Soo Hyang remarked, “As an actress, I understand deeply the challenges and emotions Park Do Ra faces, allowing me to empathize with her character.”

Meanwhile, regarding his transformation into a drama PD, Ji Hyun Woo revealed, “I go to the broadcasting station every day to experience what it’s like to be an assistant director for real. Additionally, I also go to filming sets and shadow the staff to observe.”

When discussing her portrayal of Park Do Ra, Im Soo Hyang shared, “To capture the image of a top star, I paid meticulous attention to styling, ensuring the character looks pretty and glamorous. Moreover, as Do Ra experiences significant changes following a particular incident, I’m focused on authentically conveying her inner emotional journey.”

As for Ji Hyun Woo, he described Go Pil Seung as “a character who is like a bridge that connects [things].” He added, “He puts in a lot of effort toward his dreams and is full of love.” Choosing keywords such as “unbendable mind,” “innocence,” and “love” to describe his character, Ji Hyun Woo elaborated, “He is a pure-hearted man with a determined spirit to succeed.”

“Beauty and Mr. Romantic” is set to premiere on March 23 at 7:55 p.m. KST as the follow up to “Live Your Own Life.”
