Actor Kim Min-jun is to become brother-in-law to K-pop superstar G-Dragon as he will marry the singer's older sister in October.
In a statement released by the 43-year-old actor's agency Family ENT on Tuesday, Kim confirmed that the singer's sister Kwon Da-mi and he will be getting married on Oct. 11 in Seoul at an undisclosed location.
He met with a Hankook Ilbo reporter last week, revealing worries that the venue of their wedding could be discovered by the public. "I feel sorry that she has to bear such attention from the public because of her celebrity brother and her husband to be," he said, asking for the public to understand them for not being able to reveal the venue of their wedding.
"As an actor, I don't mind dealing with the spotlight but I feel my fiancee has the right to keep her privacy protected."
He also mentioned that the veteran actor Park Joong-hoon, who appeared in the 2013 film "Top Star," will be preparing a wedding speech for the couple.
In June, they two admitted they were dating without disclosing whether they had plans to marry or not.
The two reportedly have a common interest in fashion and music.
Although Kwon is not a star herself, she has been familiar to the public not only as the K-pop star's sister but also as one of the most influential fashion icons in Asia. She runs a fashion business.
Her taste in fashion stood out through her concept store Rare Market which raised attention in the fashion industry since it opened in 2014, featuring in Vogue and W Magazine.
She was also listed as one of "2017's Fashion People 500," selected by British fashion magazine Business of Fashion.
Kim Min-joon debuted as a model in 1995 and started his acting career with the historical TV series "Damo" in 2003. Since then, he has starred in numerous famous films and TV series, including "Lovers in Prague" (2005), and "The Concubine" (2012). He later began to broaden his career in entertainment by appearing in reality shows like "I Live Alone," and other talk shows.
The actor will be coming back to the silver screen after a three-year break with a new historical film "Sorikkun," which revolves around musicians of pansori ― a traditional Korean form of musical storytelling ― set during the 1392-1910 Joseon Kingdom. The film is scheduled to be released in 2020.
